Mesabi Metallics, Nashwauk, MN, USA. Mesabi Metallics is looking for a Human Resource Generalist to join our team in the Nashwauk office. The Human Resource Generalist is responsible for various functions of the Human Resource department, including talent acquisition, compensation, benefits, leave, reporting, and administration of company policies. The ideal candidate has proven expertise in Human Resources, including benefits administration, talent acquisition, compensation, reporting, and training. They should be patient, compassionate, possess excellent listening skills, and be able to multitask effectively. Responsibilities Recruitment – Identifying, attracting, interviewing, selecting, and facilitating hiring and onboarding. Work closely with business managers to understand department needs and required job openings. Coordinate pre‑employment drug tests and background verification. Create new‑hire onboarding programs and deliver compelling orientations. Education and training – Ensure mandatory training and continuing education is complete and documented, including safety, code of conduct, handbook, anti‑harassment training and required certifications. Stay current with trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new HR technologies. Benefits – Assist employees with benefit programs and leave requests. Collaborate with the Central Human Resource team to comply with all federal, state, and local employment laws. Employee relations – Manage disciplinary discussions, terminations, and investigations. Advise leadership on sensitive or complex matters, escalating to appropriate staff when needed. Maintain professionalism and confidentiality. Skills & Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field. Minimum of 3 years of experience in Human Resources. Strong ability to multitask and remain calm in emergencies. Superb conflict resolution skills. Integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality at all times. Solid knowledge of laws and regulations. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software. Experience with HRIS and talent management systems. Preference Eligible or authorized for employment in the United States. Additional certification in human resources is an advantage. Experience in the metals & mining industry, manufacturing, or project setup.
