Inventory Control CoordinatorInventory accuracy is the backbone of any distribution operation — and the person responsible for maintaining it is one of the most important contributors to the facility's daily success. A growing distribution operation in Vernon Hills, IL is seeking an experienced Inventory Control Coordinator to join a newly consolidated, high-volume facility and take ownership of the processes that keep inventory data accurate, reliable, and actionable. This is a role for someone who is detail-oriented by nature, comfortable working with data and systems, and confident taking initiative when discrepancies arise.Key ResponsibilitiesPlan, coordinate, and execute daily and weekly cycle counts across all product categories and storage locations within the facilityInvestigate and resolve inventory discrepancies identified through cycle counts, system audits, receiving variances, and fulfillment exceptionsMaintain real-time inventory accuracy by updating records in the warehouse management system and ensuring all product movements are captured correctlyGenerate daily, weekly, and monthly inventory reports for facility management, highlighting variance trends, adjustment activity, and cycle count completion ratesCoordinate with the receiving team to ensure all inbound shipments are accurately processed, documented, and reflected in inventory within established time standardsWork closely with the fulfillment and shipping teams to identify and address inventory-related order exceptions before they impact customersConduct root cause analysis on recurring inventory variances and recommend process improvements to prevent future discrepanciesSupport annual physical inventory counts and period-end reconciliation processes, coordinating across departments to ensure smooth executionEnsure that all inventory movement documentation is accurate, complete, and filed in accordance with facility record-keeping standardsCommunicate clearly and proactively with supervisors and management regarding inventory status, adjustment approvals, and outstanding discrepanciesRequirementsMinimum of 2 years of inventory control, cycle counting, or warehouse operations experience in a distribution, fulfillment, or manufacturing environmentProficiency with warehouse management systems (WMS) — experience with data entry, inventory adjustments, and system-generated reporting requiredStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify variance trends and trace discrepancies to root causeHigh proficiency in Microsoft Excel or comparable spreadsheet tools for tracking, reporting, and data analysisExceptional attention to detail with a demonstrated track record of maintaining inventory accuracy under volume pressureStrong written and verbal communication skills for cross-functional coordination and management reportingAbility to work independently and manage multiple concurrent tasks without loss of accuracy or urgencyMust be authorized to work in the United StatesPreferred QualificationsExperience in a related field is preferredScreening QuestionsHow many years of experience do you have relevant to this Inventory Control Coordinator role?Do you hold any required licenses or certifications for this position?Are you available to work onsite in Vernon Hills, IL?
