The trench is prepared, the bedding is ready, and with care and precision you place each section of pipe so systems will flow exactly as designed. By day’s end, utilities are tied in, the site is orderly, and the team is already set up for tomorrow’s progress.

About the Role

As an Underground Utility Pipe Installer, you’ll be a key contributor to installing and maintaining piping systems that support water, sewer, and related utilities. You’ll work outdoors, apply your knowledge of materials and methods, and partner closely with other trades to keep projects moving efficiently and safely.

A Typical Day

• Review specifications, blueprints, and site grades before work begins.
• Excavate and prepare trenches to proper depth and layout for installation.
• Set, align, and lay pipes to established line and grade to ensure optimal flow.
• Connect piping to water mains, sewer systems, and other utility lines.
• Inspect installed sections, perform routine maintenance, and verify alignment.
• Coordinate with teammates and other trades to maintain productivity.
• Uphold safety practices and keep the work area clean and organized.

What You Bring

• High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training is a plus.
• Hands-on experience in pipelaying or related construction preferred.
• Understanding of pipe materials and installation techniques.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
• Physical stamina and comfort working in changing outdoor conditions.
• Clear, reliable communication and strong teamwork mindset.
• Valid driver’s license and dependable transportation.
