Position Overview

The Registered Nurse (RN) on the Medical Surgical Unit is responsible for providing safe, compassionate, and comprehensive patient care. The RN will assess patient needs, coordinate care, collaborate with the multidisciplinary team, and provide guidance and supervision to LPNs and nursing support staff.

Responsibilities

• Assess, monitor, and address patient needs while providing high-quality nursing care.
• Develop and implement individualized patient care plans.
• Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
• Supervise and provide guidance to LPNs and support nursing staff.
• Accurately document patient care and maintain timely, organized records.
• Demonstrate strong communication skills with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
• Provide excellent customer service and maintain a professional, compassionate approach.
• Manage supplies and equipment efficiently.
• Respond appropriately and calmly to emergencies and rapidly changing patient conditions.
• Utilize electronic medical records and demonstrate strong computer skills.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and healthy environment in accordance with quality and safety standards.
• Demonstrate strong organization, time management, critical thinking, and attention to detail.

Required Qualifications

• Active, unencumbered New York RN License
• BLS
• At least 1–2 years of recent RN Medical Surgical experience
• Associate Degree in Nursing required
• BSN preferred
• Strong communication, clinical judgment, teamwork, and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced healthcare environment

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift 45+ lbs. and carry 15–44 lbs.
• Frequent standing, walking, pushing, pulling, reaching, bending, and kneeling
• Ability to perform repetitive movements and maintain manual dexterity
• Ability to wear an N-95 respirator when required
• Normal vision and hearing required
