Human Resources Manager

Sheraton New York Times Square Position Summary The Human Resources Manager supports and manages the daily Human Resources functions of the hotel, providing guidance and support to team members and operational leaders across all departments. This position reports to the Director of Human Resources and serves as a trusted resource on employee relations, recruitment, onboarding, benefits, leave administration, timekeeping and payroll support, labor relations, training, compliance, and Human Resources policies and procedures. The Human Resources Manager partners closely with the Director of Human Resources, General Manager, Finance leadership, department heads, MCR corporate support teams, and union representatives to promote consistent employment practices, maintain compliance, support hotel operations, and foster a respectful and productive workplace. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The following duties describe the primary responsibilities of the position. Responsibilities may be adjusted based on hotel needs and organizational priorities. Human Resources Operations & Team Member Support Serve as an accessible and reliable Human Resources resource for team members and managers regarding policies, benefits, leaves of absence, pay and timekeeping questions, workplace concerns, and HR procedures. Maintain accurate team member information in Dayforce and other approved HR systems. Maintain complete, confidential, organized, and audit-ready personnel and Human Resources records. Coordinate benefits enrollment, qualifying life event changes, leave programs, workplace accommodations, and return-to-work processes in partnership with MCR Benefits, Payroll, Legal, and Labor Relations, as appropriate. Administer and support applicable leave programs, including FMLA, Paid Family Leave, workers' compensation, and other federal, state, city, and company-provided leaves. Support workers' compensation claims, workplace incident reporting, unemployment claims, employment verifications, and related documentation. Conduct and assist with prompt, fair, objective, and well-documented workplace investigations. Provide guidance to managers regarding performance management, attendance, coaching, corrective action, documentation, and consistent application of company policies. Coordinate employee separations, including required documentation, final payroll information, return of company property, system and access removal, and exit interviews. Respond to team member questions and concerns in a professional, timely, and confidential manner. Talent Acquisition & Workforce Administration Manage and support the recruitment process, including job requisitions, approved postings, applicant screening, interviews, candidate selection, offers, and required pre-employment processes. Coordinate new-hire onboarding, employment eligibility verification, background screening, wage notices, orientation, policy acknowledgments, and system access. Partner with department leaders to identify staffing needs, prioritize vacancies, and support internal promotions, transfers, and succession planning. Facilitate and support new-hire orientation and ensure new team members receive required employment information and training. Support performance review processes, employee development, training initiatives, recognition programs, and engagement activities. Monitor workforce trends, vacancies, turnover, and staffing concerns and recommend appropriate actions to improve retention and workforce stability. Working Conditions and Schedule This is an on property leadership position in a hotel that operates 24 hours each day and 7 days each week. The regular schedule must support weekly payroll deadlines and may require flexibility during payroll close, audits, investigations, open enrollment, emergencies, or periods of significant hotel activity. The role regularly uses a computer and telephone and may involve sitting, standing, walking through hotel work areas, attending meetings, and reviewing records for extended periods.
