Lead AI Developer

Salary: $80,000 - 111,000 per year Requirements:

• 8+ years of senior engineering experience building enterprise-grade software relied on by engineers or business teams, such as internal platforms, large-scale services, developer tools, or SDKs; at least 2 years must be hands-on with LLMs or agentic systems.
• Experience building or extending agentic coding tools, such as Claude Code or OpenAI Codex, and IDEs such as VS Code, or comparable tools.
• Strong Python skills and working proficiency with Node.js and TypeScript.
• Direct experience designing or substantially extending integrations between AI coding tools and external systems, such as MCP servers, LangChain or LangGraph tools, Copilot extensions, JetBrains AI plugins, or Cursor, Continue, or Aider integrations.
• A practical understanding of at least one production AI coding tool, including prompt design, tool-use loops, context-window economics, and common failure modes.
• Experience with multiple LLM providers and a considered approach to provider-agnostic abstractions.
• Cross-platform engineering experience with Windows, macOS, and Linux, including installers, paths, shells, and credential storage.
• Familiarity with one or more application technology stacks: Python, Java/Spring, Angular, React, .NET, Oracle, Redshift, or SQL Server.
• A record of delivering and supporting infrastructure that engineers rely on daily.
• Experience working in regulated financial services environments, with attention to secrets, data classification, change management, and auditability; practical knowledge of LLM security and data protection, including prompt-injection mitigation, secret-leak prevention, PII redaction, and model-output trust boundaries.
• Deep, hands-on knowledge of the software development lifecycle and modern engineering practices, including agile, trunk-based development, code review, CI/CD, and observability-driven operations; experience with mature CI/CD and observability environments such as Azure DevOps, Jenkins, SonarQube, Splunk, Datadog, or Dynatrace.
• Demonstrated technical leadership without direct authority, including architecture decision records that build consensus, presenting technical direction to senior engineering and business leaders, and mentoring senior engineers.
• Experience evaluating agents using methods such as golden task sets, regression suites, or judge models.
• Substantive engagement with the developer-tools, AI agents, or AI/ML open-source community through contributions, conference talks, or published writing.
• BS in Computer Science; an MS in Computer Science is a plus.

• Own the technical direction and architecture of our internal AI-powered developer platform, the AI Dev Kit.
• Set the engineering bar and personally deliver the platforms most important improvements.
• Write code, review pull requests, and lead design discussions.
• Respond to production issues and help ensure the platform is reliable and resilient.
• Shape the platforms long-term technical vision as AI technology evolves.
