Sterilization Equipment Technician II

Summary The Sterilization Technician II focuses on steam sterilizers, washer decontaminators, cart washers, internal steam generators, stand‑alone steam generators, and related equipment. Knowledge of Steris, Amsco, and/or Getinge systems is beneficial but not required. The role involves installing, inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, calibrating, and verifying performance of complex sterilization and decontamination equipment with minimal supervision and may include travel as required. Repair and calibrate medical sterilization and decontamination equipment and systems. Inform supervisors of the status of repairs, scheduled inspections, unusual equipment situations, and any customer concerns. Work with, direct, and document the activities of subcontractors, vendors, and outside service technicians to ensure proper service delivery. Maintain field‑related expertise through ongoing training and education. Assist with Service Operations Special Projects as assigned and contribute to the development of others through mentoring and sharing expertise. Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the equipment database, including inventory, PA schedules, nomenclature, and service history. Adhere to the Medical Equipment Management Plan (MEMP), regulatory agency compliances, and applicable policies and procedures. Ensure all service and documentation is complete, timely, and accurate. Build and maintain customer relationships; discuss equipment status and functionality with customers. Adhere to the Mission, Vision, and Values of the organization(s) served and serve as an ambassador for TRIMEDX. Perform periodic inspections of inventory status and maintain a common failure parts inventory to ensure equipment uptime. Verify completion of security analysis for new customer equipment and perform Incoming Inspections (II) to maintain a complete and accurate inventory of medical devices. Make recommendations regarding inventory. Qualifications Minimum 3 years of experience repairing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and installing sterilization and decontamination equipment. AC/DC electrical knowledge; ability to read wiring diagrams and schematics. Plumbing knowledge; ability to read piping diagrams and identify basic plumbing components. Experience troubleshooting and repairing electrical motor circuits, internal steam generators, and pneumatic systems. Experience soldering copper pipe, creating flare and swage connections. Proficiency with digital multimeter and ammeter; performing temperature and pressure calibrations on sterilization equipment. Ability to verbally explain sterilization cycles (gravity, pre‑vacuum, liquid), biological indicators, sterilization integrators, and SPD instrument flow. Excellent interpersonal, customer service, written, and verbal communication skills. Valid driver’s license; variable travel requirements may require use of personal vehicle. 2‑year degree in a technical/electronics field or equivalent experience (waived with TRIMEDX Trained Certification or equivalent biomedical certification). Fine motor skill proficiency during installation, servicing, and maintenance of equipment. Physical capability to bend, crouch, kneel, climb, balance, and move up to 50 lbs while servicing equipment.
