A job description for a Mitsubishi Laser Operator encompasses the setup, operation, and maintenance of high-precision CNC cutting systems. While both CO2 and Fiber lasers require similar core competencies, Fiber systems typically involve more automation, while CO2 systems often require more frequent manual maintenance of the beam path and gas mixtures.
Core Responsibilities
Machine Setup & Operation: Prepare the CNC laser (Mitsubishi Fiber or CO2) by selecting appropriate parameters, loading programs, and adjusting the laser beam focal point.
Material Handling: Use automation, forklifts, or overhead cranes to load raw material (sheet metal, stainless steel, aluminum) and move finished parts.
Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, or CAD/CAM files to ensure accurate cuts according to specifications.
Quality Control: Perform first-piece and in-process inspections using precision tools like calipers, micrometers, and gauges to verify tolerances and edge quality.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Perform routine preventive maintenance, such as cleaning lenses, checking consumables (nozzles/slats), and troubleshooting software or hardware issues.
