Activities Assistant - Part Time

4428 Pheasant Ridge Road, Roanoke, Virginia 24014 Job Description The Life Enrichment Activities Assistant is responsible for supporting and assisting the Life Enrichment Director in designing, creating, initiating, facilitating, and implementing a wide variety of multi-level meaningful recreational and educational programs for our Independent Living (IL) and Assisted Living (AL) neighborhoods. The role involves developing, planning, and implementing a monthly program of activities and supplies based on the dimensions of wellness (Movement & Motion, Curiosity & Culture, Feelings & Fellowship, Clarity & Purpose, Compassion & Connection, Leadership & Volunteerism), Harmony signature programs, and person‑centered interests. The assistant leads 6–7 high‑quality programs per day. Responsibilities Survey and interview residents to complete the Resident Life Profile and determine their interests, talents, and satisfaction with community programs. Partner and coordinate with the entire program team (Life Enrichment Director, Health and Safety Director, and Health & Safety assistant) to complete planning forms, organize supplies, and plan the calendars, events, and outings for the upcoming month. Develop relationships with residents and families to encourage participation in programs and events and promote high resident and family satisfaction. Document and maintain all required records. Organize and attend resident council meetings. Organize, maintain, and stage programming areas and supplies with purpose and neatness. Recruit, coordinate, and oversee a robust volunteer program. Promote programs by preparing and posting daily notices and posters as required. Arrange chairs, tables, and sporting or exercise equipment in specified areas for scheduled group or one‑on‑one activities and restore normal structure afterward. Assist with resident transportation to groceries, shopping, and leisure activities; occasionally transport residents to physician appointments when directed. Assist with off‑site outings for residents, providing transportation and safe coordination for participants. Qualifications High School Diploma and/or relevant experience; subject to state requirements. Entry‑level position with 1–3 years of experience highly desired. Strong organizational and time‑management skills. Flexible, consistent, imaginative, engaging, and passionate about working with seniors. Experience organizing, conducting, and planning programs and activities. Valid driver’s license with a good driving record. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Good physical condition; able to sit, stand, bend, kneel, walk, and lift up to 50 lbs.
