Academic Dermatologist

The Southeast Louisiana Veterans Health Care System (VA) in New Orleans is seeking a dedicated and experienced full-time Academic Dermatologist to join our team. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive dermatologic care, including general dermatology, medical dermatology, and surgical dermatology services to our veteran population predominantly while supervising trainees from our two affiliate institutions. This is an Open Continuous Announcement and may be extended beyond the current closing date until the position is filled. Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases

Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Provide high-quality dermatologic care in both outpatient and inpatient settings.
• Our Dermatology clinics are high volume serving a wide spectrum of including general dermatology, complex medical dermatology, and cutaneous oncology.
• The majority of patient care is provided in a supervisory role with resident physicians.
• Opportunities to provider virtual care in our robust teledermatology consultation hub.
• Collaborative work with physicians in other subspecialties.
• Performing inpatient Dermatology consults with a resident.
• Participate in one-on-one patient care sessions without resident may be necessary.

Academic Teaching:

• Clinically supervising, teaching, and mentoring dermatology residents and medical students during clinical rotations from our two affiliate institutions.
• Opportunities to participate in clinical case discussions, didactics educational sessions, journal clubs, cutaneous oncology tumor board, and to conduct teaching rounds.
• Mentoring fellows or residents' research or QI project within SLVHCS.
• Evaluate resident performance and provide constructive feedback to facilitate learning and professional development.

Research:

• Perform clinical and translational research which include a close working relationship with VA Research Center and affiliate institutions includes Tulane School of Medicine and LSU School of Medicine

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm, subject to change based on the needs of the facility. Weekly commute is expected for staffing clinic in surrounding CBOC facilities.
