Job Description
Join Our Dynamic Intermediate Care Unit as a Caregiver!

Job Description:


- Unit Overview:
- 30-Bed Intermediate Care Unit with a mix of 14 Private & 16 Semi-private rooms.


- Certifications Required:
- BLS, ACLS, NIHSS.

- Patient Ratios:
- Goal ratios are 1:4; typically running at 1:5, occasionally up to 1:6.


- EMR System:
- Sunrise.

- Charge Nurse Duties:
- Charge nurses carry a full patient assignment on both day & night shifts.
- Clinical Assistant support available: 2, 12-hour shifts on the floor and 2, 8-hour shifts in the office.

- Nurse Aide Support:
- Typically 2-3 CNA's with ratios of 1:10-12.


- Weekend Commitment:
- Must work 4 weekend shifts over a 4-week schedule (day or night).
- Straight days require a minimum of 3 night shifts per 4-week schedule.

- Holiday Flexibility:
- Must be adaptable to work holidays as needed, although covered by permanent staff most of the time.

- Dress Code:
- Navy blue scrubs for RN's, including tops, bottoms, and jackets (no hoodies).

- Telemetry Monitoring:
- Tele Techs present, but RN's must read and interpret their own strips.

- Drip Management:
- RN's are required to titrate drips such as Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Labetolol, Nitro, & Heparin, with occasional Lasix.

- Respiratory Support:
- All respiratory equipment managed by RT; RT in-house 24/7.


- Hospitalist Coverage:
- Hospitalist and Intensivist in-house 24/7, with residents present.

- IV and Pharmacy Services:
- IV team and Pharmacy both in-house 24/7.

- Scheduling:
- 12-hour shifts, starting from 7 am to 7 pm. Must be on the unit by 6:45 am/pm.
- Self-scheduling allowed, with 4 requested days off per month.

- Floating Policy:
- Required to float into the rotation (Tele or MedSurg), with ratios up to 1:6, occasionally 1:7.

- Orientation Process:
- 1st day: 4 hours with HR, followed by 8 hours on the unit with a preceptor; 2nd day mirrors this training.

- Common Patient Types:
- Chest pain, r/o MI, CHF, Arrhythmias, post-pacer care, pre/post Caths management, and patients on Tikosyn therapy.

- Cancellation Policy:
- 2 occurrences (including tardies/call-offs) will result in termination; emergency protocols must be followed.

- Charting System:
- EPIC.

- Contract Details:
- Guaranteed 36 hours per week over a 13-week contract.
