The technologist is responsible for preparing patients, operating MRI scanners, ensuring image quality, and maintaining patient safety.\n Key Responsibilities:\n Operate MRI equipment to produce diagnostic images of specific parts of the body.\n Screen patients for contraindications to MRI procedures (e.g., pacemakers, implants).\n Explain procedures and answer patient questions to ensure comfort and cooperation.\n Position patients correctly and use immobilization devices when necessary.\n Administer contrast materials as needed and monitor patient response.\n Maintain accurate patient records, including documenting procedures and patient histories.\n Ensure compliance with safety standards, including magnetic field safety protocols.\n Monitor and maintain MRI equipment; report any malfunctions or maintenance needs.\n Collaborate with radiologists and other healthcare staff to interpret images and provide optimal care.\n Adhere to hospital, state, and federal regulations regarding imaging procedures and patient care.\n Maintain continuing education and certification/licensure as required.\n Qualifications:\n Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Radiologic Technology or a related field.\n Completion of an accredited MRI technologist training program.\n Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in MRI or equivalent (e.g., ARMRIT).\n Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.\n Licensing and Certification Requirements by State:\n Licensing requirements for MRI technologists vary across the U.S. Here’s a breakdown:\n States That Require State Licensure or Certification:\n These states require licensure, often through the state’s health or radiologic board.
