Job Title

Registered Nurse – Cardiac Step-Down (PCU)

Seattle, WA | Cardiac Progressive Care Unit

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Nights | 3x12-Hour Shifts (19:00–07:30)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care for cardiac PCU patients including myocardial infarction, primary arrhythmias, coronary artery disease, heart failure, stroke patients with cardiac involvement, and pre/post cath lab patients with or without interventions
• Care for pre/post open-heart surgery and vascular surgery patients, including chest tube set-up and care, and sternal precautions
• Perform telemetry and dysrhythmia interpretation and management; support epicardial pacer management and cardioversion/defibrillation as needed
• Administer blood and blood products; manage groin and radial band sites; provide IV therapy
• Support specialized structural heart patients including VAD and TAVR; provide LVAD and open heart 24–28 hours post-op care
• Float to like units as required; expected to work every other weekend and commit to 3 of 5 designated holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license; compact license must be in hand at time of submission
• Minimum 2 years of experience; at least 1 year in a cardiac telemetry or surgical telemetry setting — first-time travelers are not accepted for this position
• Required certifications: ACLS , BLS , NIHSS
• Epic EMR experience is a hard-stop requirement
• Experience with surgical telemetry, vascular care, groin/radial band management, and NIH stroke scale
• Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible as a standard travel candidate (locals may be considered under separate terms)

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with VAD and/or TAVR patient populations
• Familiarity with CPAP/BiPap, trach care, and breathing treatments
• Prior travel nursing experience in a cardiac progressive care or step-down setting
