Job Title
This position reports to the Director of Public Utilities and supervises Solid Waste Personnel. The BLS comparable code is 51-1011, First-line Supervisors of Production/Operating Workers.
The purpose of this position is to enhance the quality of life of City of Enid residents through the coordination of the efficient removal, recycle, and disposal of residential and commercial waste refuse by providing appropriate motivation and oversight, training, tools, and equipment to collection employees and to lower repair costs and ensure reliable operation of collection vehicles and other equipment through the development, coordination, and implementation of a preventive maintenance program.
Essential functions and basic duties include monitoring Solid Waste Department operations, developing goals and processes for waste collection and equipment maintenance, analyzing internal processes, planning and controlling budgets, preparing reports, overseeing projects, supervising crew, recommending personnel actions, keeping abreast of new developments, investigating complaints, and providing assistance to other departments.
Qualifications include an Associate's Degree or equivalent, additional training preferred, knowledge of administration and management, computer proficiency, and skills in communication, multitasking, and operating business machines.
Physical and mental activities include finger dexterity, visual abilities, physical strength, language comprehension, reasoning ability, and mathematics ability. The work schedule is a regular 8-hour shift, typically from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, with occasional attendance at meetings after hours.
