Senior Engineer position available. Location is Hybrid in Houston, TX. The start date is ASAP for this 12-month contract position with potential to convert.

Job Title: Senior Engineer Location-Type: Hybrid – Houston, TX (Onsite Monday–Thursday, Remote Friday) Start Date Is: ASAP Duration: 12-month contract (potential to convert) Compensation Range: $60/hr – $69/hr

The Senior Engineer will design, develop, and optimize enterprise-level applications supporting renewable energy operations, automation, compliance, accounting, and business process improvements.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, test, and implement enterprise-level applications using Java, JavaScript, and AWS.
• Build and enhance applications supporting renewable energy plants, accounting, operations, risk management, and regulatory compliance.
• Develop automation solutions to streamline workflows and improve operational efficiency.
• Work with Snowflake as a central data platform for enterprise applications.
• Collaborate with business analysts, stakeholders, and engineering teams to gather requirements and deliver technical solutions.
• Lead technical design and coding discussions, troubleshoot complex issues, and resolve architectural challenges.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools to accelerate coding and improve productivity.
• Review application performance, documentation, and existing systems to identify opportunities for optimization.
• Mentor developers and contribute to technical planning within an Agile environment.
• Participate in rotational on-call support as needed.

Requirements:

• Must-Haves:
• Strong experience developing enterprise-level software applications.
• Hands-on Java and JavaScript development experience.
• Experience building and deploying applications within AWS.
• Experience working with Snowflake as a data platform.
• Proven ability to design, develop, test, and implement scalable software solutions.
• Experience integrating applications across business functions such as operations, accounting, risk, and compliance.
• Understanding of automation, application optimization, and modern software development practices.
• Ability to leverage AI-assisted coding tools effectively.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience working in Agile development environments.
• Nice-to-Haves:
• Experience in renewable energy, utilities, environmental services, or related industries.
• Software architecture or solution design experience.
• Experience developing applications supporting regulatory compliance, including EPA or state-level reporting.
• Experience supporting plant operations, financial systems, or enterprise automation initiatives.
