About This Role

We are seeking a dependable Van Driver to transport children to and from local schools and the academy at Beulah Duke Learning Academy, a faith-based educational institution located within Chesapeake Christian Center. This role is crucial in ensuring the safety and well-being of children during transportation, and we are looking for a responsible individual who is committed to maintaining a safe and positive environment while supporting our mission of “Learning Through Excellence”.

Transport children safely to and from local schools and the academy.

Supervise children at all times during transportation to ensure their safety.

Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle safety inspections daily.

Keep accurate attendance and transportation records up to date.

Load and unload children properly following established safety procedures.

Keep the vehicle clean and organized at all times.

Comply with all state licensing regulations and traffic laws while driving.

Communicate effectively with staff regarding schedules, delays, or concerns.

Report incidents, accidents, or concerns to administration immediately.

Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Ability to pass a full background check and driving record check.

Must be at least 21 years old.

Must pass required health screening (including TB test if applicable).

Ability to react quickly and appropriately in emergency situations.

Ability to ensure the safety, supervision, and appropriate behavior of children during transport.

Flexibility to work morning and afternoon routes.

Willingness to assist with occasional field trips or special events.

Ability to safely lift up to 40 lbs as needed.

Ability to sit for extended periods while operating a vehicle.

Previous experience working in a childcare or school setting is a plus.

Knowledge of childcare licensing regulations is a plus.

CPR/First Aid certification is a plus.

Ability to assist children on and off the vehicle safely.
