About the Opportunity

Join a global consumer products and lifestyle organization with an extensive international footprint and portfolio of well-known brands. This executive leadership opportunity will oversee the company’s global income tax function, driving tax strategy, compliance, reporting, transfer pricing, and tax planning initiatives across multiple jurisdictions.

The Vice President, Tax will serve as a key business partner to Finance, Treasury, Legal, FP&A, and Corporate Development teams while providing strategic leadership on domestic and international tax matters. This role is ideal for a seasoned tax executive who combines deep technical expertise with strong leadership, business acumen, and a passion for process improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Tax Accounting & Financial Reporting

• Lead all aspects of income tax accounting and reporting under ASC 740
• Oversee quarterly and annual tax provision processes and related disclosures
• Present tax results, effective tax rate analysis, and key tax matters to executive leadership and, as required, board or audit committee stakeholders
• Manage monthly close activities, tax account reconciliations, and related reporting processes
• Maintain and enhance tax-related internal controls and support audit activities

Tax Planning & Strategy

• Develop and execute strategies to reduce cash taxes and optimize the company’s effective tax rate
• Manage utilization of tax attributes and identify planning opportunities across jurisdictions
• Evaluate federal, state, local, and international tax incentives
• Support major business initiatives, strategic investments, restructurings, and acquisitions
• Monitor legislative developments, including global tax reforms, and assess impacts on the business

Tax Compliance & Tax Controversy

• Oversee global income tax compliance activities and filing calendars
• Ensure timely filing of returns, extensions, and estimated tax payments
• Manage tax examinations, audits, notices, and dispute resolution efforts
• Coordinate foreign withholding tax and international reporting compliance
• Oversee relationships with external advisors and co-sourced service providers

Transfer Pricing & International Tax

• Lead global transfer pricing strategy, documentation, and compliance
• Oversee intercompany pricing analyses and related journal entries
• Partner with Treasury to manage intercompany funding and settlement activities
• Support international operations on transfer pricing and cross-border tax matters
• Ensure compliance with global transfer pricing regulations and documentation requirements

M&A and Strategic Initiatives

• Provide tax leadership on mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and restructuring transactions
• Collaborate with business development and finance teams on transaction planning and due diligence
• Evaluate tax implications of strategic initiatives and recommend optimal structures
• Support legal entity rationalization and organizational simplification efforts

Leadership & Organizational Development

• Lead and develop the income tax function
• Mentor and coach tax professionals while fostering a high-performance culture
• Establish best practices, governance standards, and efficient operating models
• Strengthen partnerships across Finance, Legal, Treasury, and international business teams
• Drive accountability, continuous improvement, and strategic thinking throughout the function

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
• 18+ years of progressive tax experience combining public accounting and corporate tax leadership
• Extensive experience in domestic and international taxation
• Deep expertise in ASC 740 tax accounting, compliance, and transfer pricing
• Proven track record leading corporate tax functions and developing tax strategies
• Experience managing teams within complex, matrixed organizations
• Strong executive communication and stakeholder management abilities

Preferred

• Master’s degree in Taxation or related discipline
• CPA designation
• Experience in consumer products, retail, wholesale, or branded product environments
• Experience supporting multinational organizations with complex global operations
• Familiarity with enterprise tax and financial reporting systems such as OneSource and major consolidation platforms
