Low Voltage Superintendent - Charleston

We are seeking a Superintendent to drive excellence in our cutting‑edge Technologies division, overseeing structured cabling, integrated security, and AV systems across intelligent buildings nationwide. Location: Charleston, SC with 50% travel. Primary Role The Technologies Superintendent performs skilled work while supervising project execution and guiding all personnel on an assigned project. The role reports to a Technologies Project Manager and often to regional, divisional, and department leaders. Responsibilities Lead up to 10 team members and work hands‑on to install, repair, terminate, certify, and troubleshoot low‑voltage devices and cabling. Establish and maintain budgets, manage labor hours, committed costs, and material costs; prepare progress reports and monthly projections for cash flow and profit accuracy. Ensure work is carried out safely and to industry standards, keep employees informed of safety policies and industry standards. Demonstrate advanced leadership, communication, and decision‑making skills; provide coaching and training to teams. Install, repair, terminate, certify, and label cabling for systems such as IT Infrastructure, Access Control/Security, Cameras (CCTV), Paging, and Wireless Access Points. Install devices into Access Control/Security panels and modules; manage IP information for cameras. Manage and complete service calls for troubleshooting faults in Copper (analog), Fiber, Audio/Visual, and Cameras. Maintain task and punch lists; oversee completion and close‑out documentation (As‑Builts, test results, customer training). Maintain and plan inventory and materials; audit material for weekly and monthly look‑aheads; collaborate with Project Manager on field evaluation. Plan daily, weekly, and biweekly look‑ahead tasks; build MDF, IDF, enclosures, ladder trays, and install 2‑4‑post racks independently. Punch down, route, label, and dress all cabling into racks or enclosures correctly and accurately. Install head‑end equipment, switches, vertical/horizontal management, UPS systems; splice fiber; use certifiers and interpret test results. Participate in leadership training; identify delays or obstacles; communicate with supervisors. Follow BICSI, ANSI, TIA, and NEC codes; terminate data jacks and mod plugs; maintain firestopping, riser, and plenum specifications. Operate test equipment; upload results; print labels; keep detailed records of devices and cabling locations. Work independently, collaborate with other construction trades, and perform skilled work under environmental challenges. Qualifications 5–6 years of verified experience in low‑voltage systems and cabling. Proven experience supervising or training others in similar work. OSHA30 certification (or ability to obtain). Experience with budgeting, labor, material, and committed costs management. Ability to complete relevant documentation accurately. Experience with IT Infrastructure, Access Control/Security, Cameras (CCTV), Paging, and Wireless Access Points. Hands‑on installation of cable into panels and modules; device installation for the aforementioned systems. Experience troubleshooting faults in Copper, Fiber, AV, Cameras, and Access Control/Security systems. Knowledge of PoE requirements for cameras, ability to install and service 2‑4‑post racks, punch down, routing, labeling, and UPS systems. Fiber splicing skills for multi‑mode and single‑mode fiber. Proficiency with test equipment and software (Fluke, COINS, Box, PlanGrid). Read blueprints, schematics, and data‑closet specifications. Understanding of firestopping, riser, and plenum spaces; BICSI, ANSI, TIA, and NEC code compliance. Physical ability to meet job requirements and travel as needed.
