Associate Attorney

*Job Summary*

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Associate Attorney to join our busy workers' compensation firm in the Pierce County area. Applicants must be able to manage a caseload of cases before the Department of Labor and Industries, Board of Industrial Insurance Appeals, and in Superior Court. Additionally, they must be able to take direction, maintain strict deadlines, have knowledge of medical terminology, work as part of a team, demonstrate strong skills with Microsoft software including Outlook and Word, multitask, and prioritize. This position is ideal for motivated legal professionals with exceptional attention to detail, excellent organization, and customer service skills. All roles are compensated positions with opportunities for growth and professional development.

Duties:

* Review legal correspondences, medical records, claim documents;
* Draft legal correspondences, documents, and pleadings to witnesses, physicians, clients, legal parties, and judges;
* Be able to converse with medical professionals and experts through legal conferencing and other contacts;
* Work efficiently with our team of paralegals and legal assistants;
* Engage in mediation and scheduling conferences;
* Attend hearings, depositions, oral arguments, and other legal proceedings as needed;
* Communicate clearly with clients in a timely and professional manner, providing updates, gathering information, and explaining legal options in an accessible manner;
* Calendar litigation events and strictly maintain your own calendar;
* Schedule witnesses, both expert and lay, for depositions and hearings;
* Have a valid driver's license with the ability to travel to hearings, depositions, and other legal proceedings as needed;
* Supplement and conduct all forms of discovery.

Experience:

* Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school; admission to the Washington State Bar is required.
* Proven experience in workers' compensation is a must.
* Prior experience drafting contracts, pleadings, motions, or other legal documents is essential.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a focus on client advocacy and negotiation.
* Strong organizational skills with experience managing multiple cases simultaneously within a fast-paced environment.
* Knowledge of ethical standards and confidentiality requirements pertinent to legal practice.

Pay: $90,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
