Maintenance Worker II

Description

Under the direction of the Public Works Director, perform a variety of skilled activities in the maintenance and repair of assigned facilities and equipment; collaborate with other maintenance personnel in the organization and performance of a variety of duties related to the building trades.

• Perform a variety of skilled activities in the maintenance and repair of assigned facilities and equipment; collaborate with and assist maintenance workers and trades personnel in a variety of activities and projects.
• Collaborate with other maintenance personnel in the organization and performance of a variety of duties related to the building trades; perform routine and complex repairs and adjustment to assigned buildings, facilities and equipment; provide work direction and guidance to maintenance workers as needed.
• Operate a vehicle to haul and transport equipment, supplies and materials to and from project locations and vendor sites; operate a variety of machinery including skill saw, drill motors, router saws, tractor and other equipment.
• Participate in performing preventive maintenance on locks and hardware including cleaning, lubricating and tightening parts; repair doors and windows and perform routine installation of hardware.
• Assist with troubleshooting, repairing or replacing switches, receptacles, fans and motors, lighting circuits, communication and other equipment; perform welding activities in the construction and maintenance of fences, equipment and buildings.
• Building and repairing various wood and metal structures, equipment and furniture; make repairs to desks, chairs and other furniture and equipment; assist with installing wall paneling, baseboards, and ceiling and floor tiles.
• Assist with preparing surfaces for painting and varnishing; remove or paint over graffiti; perform masonry duties as required to repair fences and walls and construct buildings; erect, rig and move scaffolding and platforms.

Requirements

• Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and three (3) years performing a variety of maintenance work in one or more of the building maintenance trades.
• Able to lift 50lb.
• Valid CA Drivers License and must be insurable on company vehicle insurance.
