Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years License: MO or compact license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, Relias EKG Exam Must-Have: - General Medical Surgical experience - Charge experience preferred - Patient diagnoses experience: General neurological and neuromuscular disorders, MS, ALS, GBS, Stroke, Epilepsy, infections, tumors, etc. - Skills in CVA care, feeding tube management, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, telemetry management, IV starts, and tracheostomy care Description: The Registered Nurse will provide care in a Medical Surgical setting specializing in neurology and neuromuscular disorders. The nurse will be responsible for managing a typical patient ratio of 4-5 patients per nurse. The RN will perform standard nursing duties including assessments, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care. Experience in handling lumbar punctures, lumbar drains, foley insertion, G-tube management, and IV starts is required. Knowledge and skills in using a bladder ultrasound are preferred. The RN will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including physical therapy and respiratory services to provide optimal patient care. Weekend shifts will be required every other weekend. The role does not require being on-call. Candidates must pass the Relias EKG exam prior to starting. This position does not accept local candidates within a specified distance from the facility. The requirement is to ensure the candidate is open to floating within the service line as needed. Prior experience in a Level I or teaching facility setting is a plus, but not mandatory. No restrictions on time off requests are present, but a request for time off exceeding a certain limit may require approval. This role is ideal for individuals looking to deepen their experience in a fast-paced medical surgical environment focused on neurology.
