Instructional Assistant The Instructional Assistant plays a critical, student-centered role in supporting the implementation of the WSFCS /Forsyth Tech high school-based pathway model. This position is embedded within partner high schools and serves as an extension of the instructional team, providing consistent, on-site academic and engagement support for students enrolled in dual enrollment courses. While the Instructor of Record maintains responsibility for course instruction and oversight, the Instructional Assistant reinforces learning through tutoring, facilitation of student engagement, and support with assignment completion. This role ensures that students, particularly those new to college-level coursework, receive timely, hands‑on support that promotes confidence, persistence, and academic success. In addition to academic support, the Instructional Assistant contributes to the overall student experience by assisting with digital literacy, supporting student use of platforms such as Canvas, and serving as a liaison between students, faculty, and advising teams. Minimum Qualifications Required: Associate’s Degree **Note: Degrees and hours must be from a college accredited by a United States Department of Education accepted accrediting agency such as SACSCOC . Experience in tutoring, teaching, academic support, or working with high-school or college students Demonstrated ability to support student learning and engagement Preferred Qualifications Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in education, a content areas, or a related field Experience working in dual enrollment, early college, or secondary and postsecondary partnerships Familiarity with Canvas or other learning management systems Experience supporting first-generation or underserved student populations

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Academic Support and Student Engagement Provide daily, on‑site academic support to students enrolled in dual enrollment courses. Reinforce course concepts through one‑on‑one and small group tutoring sessions. Assist students with assignment completion, study strategies, and time management. Facilitate structured study sessions and promote active learning and peer collaboration. Encourage student engagement, participation, and accountability in a college-level learning environment. Classroom and Instructional Support Support the Instructor of Record by reinforcing lesson objectives and clarifying course expectations. Assist in maintaining a productive and focused classroom environment. Help monitor student progress and identify areas where additional support is needed. Provide feedback to instructors regarding student engagement and comprehension trends. Digital Literacy and Learning Technologies Assist students in navigating learning management systems such as Canvas and other digital tools. Provide support with accessing course materials, submitting assignments, and utilizing academic technologies. Promote digital literacy skills necessary for success in online and hybrid learning environments. Student Success and Resource Connection Identify early signs of academic difficulty and connect students to appropriate Academic Success Center resources. Serve as a liaison between students, faculty, and advising teams to support holistic student success. Guide students in developing effective study habits, organizational skills, and independent learning strategies. Collaboration and Communication Collaborate with high school staff, college faculty, and Academic Success Center personnel to ensure coordinated support services. Maintain clear and consistent communication regarding student progress and support needs. Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities. Data Tracking and Reporting Maintain accurate records of student interactions, attendance, and supportservices provided. Assist with tracking student engagement and identifying trends to inform support strategies.
