About the Role We are recruiting for a part-time, 1:1 daytime Support Worker position, working 23 days each week from Monday to Friday. You will be supporting a gentleman who lives with his mother and their much‑loved Cockapoo, helping him to maintain his independence and continue doing the things that are important to him. The client has Lowe syndrome, visual impairment, mild learning disabilities, epilepsy, and arthritis . He is an intelligent and motivated individual who is passionate about maintaining his independence and continuing his work. A key part of this role involves providing practical support to help him remain active in his job and daily life. We are therefore looking for someone with strong IT skills , particularly experience with Microsoft 365 , and someone who has empathy, patience, and an understanding of supporting people with learning disabilities. No two days are the same. Alongside work‑related support, the client enjoys getting out into the community and may like to take a break with a visit to the local garden centre. There may also be occasional overnight stays to support office visits and work‑related trips, although the role is predominantly Monday to Friday, 9am‑5pm. In this role, you’ll support one individual with complex needs, working regular weekly shifts to build a consistent, trusted care team. While hours are usually stable, the position is offered on a zero‑hours contract. What You’ll Be Doing As part of this person‑centred role, you will: Provide one‑to‑one support to enable the client to maintain his independence and continue working. Assist with work‑related tasks, including planning meetings, reading notes, and helping to reword documents when required. Support the client with Microsoft 365 and other computer‑based activities. Provide some personal care support, including assistance with toileting and personal hygiene during overnight work trips. Offer a supportive arm when walking due to arthritis and visual impairment. Assist with coats, shoes, and preparing for outings. Encourage and support access to the community, including visits to local amenities. Promote choice, independence, and wellbeing in all aspects of daily life. Although domiciliary care support is available at home, full personal care support will be required during work‑related overnight stays. Working Pattern 9:00am – 5:00pm Monday to Friday Regular rolling rota of 23 days per week Occasional overnight stays for office visits and work trips What We’re Looking For We’re looking for someone who is: Confident using Microsoft 365 and has good IT skills. Empathetic and understanding, with a positive approach to supporting people with learning disabilities. Reliable, proactive, and attentive to individual needs. A confident communicator who can build positive relationships naturally. Comfortable supporting someone to access the community and enjoy activities such as visits to the garden centre. A driver would be beneficial due to the client’s location, although driving is not essential. Experienced in care is preferred, but a positive attitude and willingness to learn are equally important.
