Phlebotomy SupervisorSCRI Oncology Partners, located in Nashville, Tenn., is a dedicated cancer treatment center led by globally recognized oncologists with disease expertise in cancer care and clinical research. Since its inception, SCRI has contributed to pivotal research that has helped advance the majority of new cancer therapies approved by the FDA today.The Phlebotomy Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day leadership, coordination, and oversight of phlebotomy services within SCRI Oncology Partners. This role ensures high-quality specimen collection, operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and excellent patient experience across SCRI clinical sites. The Phlebotomy Supervisor serves as a working leader, providing direct supervision, training, and support to phlebotomy staff while collaborating closely with physicians, nurses, laboratory partners, and practice leadership. All responsibilities are carried out in accordance with the US Oncology Compliance Program and its Code of Ethics and Business Standards.ResponsibilitiesSupervise, schedule, and support daily phlebotomy operations in alignment with clinic workflows and patient volumeLead, mentor, and evaluate phlebotomy staff, including onboarding, training, coaching, and performance managementEnsure accurate and timely specimen collection, labeling, processing, and transport in accordance with oncology-specific protocolsMaintain compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including CLIA, OSHA, HIPAA, and SCRI policiesMonitor quality metrics, specimen integrity, and error trends; implement corrective actions as neededServe as a clinical and operational resource for phlebotomy staff and other care team membersCoordinate phlebotomy coverage across clinics, including coverage for extended hours, holidays, and absencesCollaborate with laboratory vendors and internal partners to resolve specimen issues and improve service deliveryOversee inventory management of phlebotomy supplies and equipmentParticipate in process improvement initiatives to enhance patient access, safety, and satisfactionHandle patient concerns related to phlebotomy services in a professional and compassionate mannerSupport accreditation, audits, and inspections as requiredLeadership ResponsibilitiesFoster a culture of teamwork, accountability, professionalism, and patient-centered careEnsure staff adherence to SCRI values, policies, and clinical standardsConduct regular staff meetings and provide timely communication and feedbackPartner with Practice Administration and Clinical Leadership on staffing needs and workflow optimizationQualificationsRequired:High School Diploma or equivalentCompletion of an accredited phlebotomy training programMinimum of 3–5 years of phlebotomy experience, preferably in an oncology or specialty practice1–2 years of supervisory or lead experience in a clinical settingStrong knowledge of specimen handling, safety standards, and regulatory compliancePreferred:Experience in an oncology practice or high-volume outpatient clinicNational phlebotomy certification (e.g., ASCP, NHA, AMT, or equivalent)Familiarity with electronic health records and laboratory information systemsLeadership experience supporting multi-site clinic operationsKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesDemonstrated leadership and team-building skillsExcellent communication and interpersonal abilitiesStrong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skillsAbility to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced clinical environmentCommitment to patient safety, quality, and service excellencePhysical RequirementsAbility to stand and walk for extended periodsManual dexterity to perform venipuncture and specimen handlingAbility to lift and move supplies/equipment as requiredWork EnvironmentWork is performed in a busy outpatient oncology clinic environment with direct patient interaction.SCRI Oncology Partners is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace.
