Overview As a Retail Sales Associate, you'll play a vital role in creating an inviting and inspiring experience for every Wayfair customer. You’ll actively support customers throughout their shopping journey, from answering questions and placing orders to handling returns and solving issues with empathy and precision. What Does a Retail Sales Associate Do? Engage and Connect with Customers: Build meaningful relationships by asking thoughtful questions to understand each customer's needs and style preferences. Performance Excellence: Consistently meet or exceed an average sales per hour (SPH) goal of $320 while achieving monthly revenue targets, daily goals, and key performance indicators in a fast-paced, metrics-driven environment. Demonstrate Reliability: Show up ready to work, on time, every shift, and communicate proactively about any unexpected absences or challenges. Always Be Selling & Provide Product Expertise: Approach every customer as a sales opportunity, educating them on purchase options through POS, app, quotes, or online tools, while sharing tailored recommendations using your knowledge of Wayfair’s in-store and endless aisle offerings. Bring the Brand to Life & Leverage Tools: Promote Wayfair’s offerings through demos, room planning, and creative shopping experiences, while using trainings, resources, and website knowledge to guide customers toward perfect solutions. Support Operational Excellence & Collaborate Effectively: Assist with carry-outs, curbside pickups, cancellations, cart retrieval, product returns, floor sets, backfills, and store upkeep while contributing ideas to drive team success. Adapt to a Fast-Paced Environment: Stay agile and energized amid frequent product, promotion, and operational changes. Deliver Exceptional Service: Provide personalized support and proactive solutions that make Wayfair a go-to shopping destination. Operate as “One Team”: You will support Wayfair’s total store goals by cross‑training across key store functions, including sales and back‑of‑house operations. You'll flex where needed to support customers, teammates, store needs and peak business periods. You’ll Thrive In This Role If You Have Selling & Service Experience: 1+ year of experience in retail sales or customer‑facing roles. Experience in interior design or specialty sales is a plus. Open Availability: Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays based on business needs. Technical Proficiency: Comfortable using mobile devices, store apps, inventory tools, and POS systems. Core Competencies: Strong sales instincts combined with great communication, organization, and relationship‑building skills. Time Management & Multitasking: Ability to juggle multiple customers or tasks at once while staying focused and accurate. Additional Physical And Environmental Requirements Physical Activity: Frequent standing, walking, and reaching with hands and arms; occasional sitting, climbing, balancing, and crawling. Mobility & Movement: Frequent stooping, kneeling, and crouching throughout the day. Lifting Ability: Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs independently on a regular basis. Some projects may involve heavier items, which must be managed with proper assistance or equipment. Vision Requirements: Includes close, distance, color, and peripheral vision; depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Temperature Flexibility: Comfortable in environments with varying temperature conditions. Noise Tolerance: Occasional exposure to moderate noise levels and physical activity.
