FRENA | New York, NY Compensation: Up to $25/hour, based on experience Schedule: Approximately 25–30 hours per week (including weekends)

FRENA is seeking an experienced, polished, and engaging Lead Host to take ownership of our front door experience and become an important part of our team.

This is not a traditional host position. We are looking for someone who understands that hospitality begins before a guest ever reaches the table. The right candidate will have the presence, warmth, confidence, and attention to detail to make every guest feel genuinely welcomed while maintaining command of the door during high-volume services approaching 300 covers.

The position will focus on leading the guest experience, reservations, seating strategy, and front-door execution. Additional managerial responsibilities, including opening/closing procedures and eventually serving as a Manager on Duty when appropriate. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to step into management in the near future.

What You'll Own

• Lead the guest experience from arrival through departure
• Manage the front door with warmth, confidence, professionalism, and composure
• Operate Resy and actively manage reservations, waitlists, table status, pacing, and seating strategy
• Answer incoming reservation calls and identify opportunities to capture additional business
• Coordinate closely with management and the service team to maximize covers without compromising the guest experience
• Recognize VIPs, regulars, special occasions, and important guest information
• Maintain accurate guest notes and help develop stronger guest recognition and retention
• Anticipate service challenges before they affect the guest
• Maintain organization and professionalism at the host stand during high-volume periods
• Assist in developing and maintaining front-door standards and procedures

You have a polished, professional presence and the ability to connect comfortably with a wide range of guests. You understand the difference between simply checking someone in and making someone feel welcomed.

You remain composed when the restaurant is busy, reservations are running behind, the phone is ringing, and several guests need your attention simultaneously.

You are confident without being arrogant, warm without being overly familiar, and capable of communicating professionally with both guests and colleagues.

Most importantly, we're looking for someone with leadership potential.

Compensation: Hourly ($20.00 - $25.00)
