The Purpose Financial Advisor with an investment/trust/estate planning focus is responsible for providing exemplary member service and has demonstrated competency in delivering solutions to members in areas such as life insurance, investments, trust services, estate planning and retirement planning through branch, telephone, and/or digital delivery channels. Knowledge of operational procedures in their platform areas, continual growth in delivering FAS solutions, and a proactive advisory approach are essential. Performance Expectations and Essential Responsibilities Proficiently works to meet members’ financial needs by helping them to understand, obtain, and maintain financial advisory solutions as needed to meet the members’ financial goals, objectives, and needs. Interacts with members in an advisory capacity, proactively helping them to identify suitable financial products to fit their overall financial plan. Develops on‑going relationships with members through frequent communication and education, utilizing multiple delivery channels to ensure recommended solutions remain suitable as their needs change. Coordinates and engages other specialists as needed to assist with complex scenarios and ensure member needs are met holistically. Provides support and guidance to newer/less experienced FAS Specialists. Helps train member‑facing employees on financial advisory services to facilitate quality referrals. Utilizes SECU technology, marketing campaigns, lead platforms, referrals, and member branch visits to achieve daily activity levels that align with productivity benchmarks as communicated by management. Works independently and successfully achieves expected activity productivity levels as defined by management with limited need for guidance and oversight. Frequently communicates with management about activities and results within the assigned area. Actively looks for ways to improve the overall process of delivering financial advisory services and relays suggestions to management. Consistently demonstrates a strong understanding and effectively navigates SECU operational systems, life insurance software, NetX360, Envestnet and new systems introduced in the future. Complies with all Credit Union policies and regulatory requirements, ensuring member information remains confidential and accessed only for business purposes. Follows all security and control procedures and consistently greets and assists members in a courteous, professional, and timely manner through all service channels – in‑person, phone, and digital communication. Demonstrates willingness to work with the management team to strengthen proficiency in member service delivery. Ensures proper identification of members and compliance with SECU’s Member Information Security Procedure (MISP). Willing to assist in other areas of the operation as needed and professionally interact with other departments to facilitate member requests. Consistently maintains acceptable performance level based on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and achieves and maintains standards directed by management. Maintains regular attendance and punctuality; soft skills and call quality consistently at an acceptable level. Specialists in the FAS Contact Center consistently demonstrate a strong understanding of the CXOne platform and are available in the member‑facing skill sets as determined by management. Consistently demonstrates current and comprehensive knowledge of credit union products and services, providing quality referrals. Exhibits a positive attitude toward members and teammates while maintaining a professional appearance and demeanor. Completes all required quarterly training courses, continuing education, and other training assigned by management. Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s degree, preferably in financial planning, finance, wealth management, math, or a related field. Two additional years of experience acting as a licensed Investment or Trust Representative or related position may be considered in lieu of the degree requirement. Must have a life insurance license or obtain one within two months of hire. Must be fully licensed in Investments (SIE/6/63/65 or SIE/7/66) or hold the ATFA designation. Two years of experience as an Insurance, Investment or Trust Representative or a similar position. Comfortable acting in an advisory capacity with the ability to have informed conversations on various financial planning topics and provide holistic guidance. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent critical thinking, problem‑solving skills, and good judgment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Aptitude for meeting people, developing member confidence, and respecting members and co‑workers. Ability to quickly adapt to changes in daily work based on immediate needs. Strong multi‑tasking and organizational skills. Discretion in performing duties and maintaining strict confidentiality of member account information. Willingness to work additional hours when necessary to execute responsibilities. Must complete training, modules, and education as directed by management. Ability to speak English fluently. Adherence to the work schedule and attendance policy established by the manager. Travel for training may be required. Must possess a valid vehicle and driver’s license. Preferred Qualifications Certified Financial Planner™ or similar designation. Experience in the credit union or financial services industry. Job Environment Office setting with physical proximity to other employees. Some background noise from other employees, the office copy machine, and telephone. Some aspects of the job will be performed at off‑site premises. Physical Demands Must be able to comprehend and carry out verbal and written instructions. Sits 50%, walks 25%, and stands 25% of the time. Uses hands and fingers to press keys on a computer keyboard to enter or retrieve information. Can communicate clearly in answering members’ questions and listen well to ascertain the services needed. May be required to climb stairs in MSS Centers housed on more than one floor. Good visual acuity required to complete necessary documentation. Can lift up to five pounds.
