LVN / LPN - Corrections | Contract AssignmentLocation: Chicago, ILPosition OverviewWe are seeking an experienced and dedicated Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) / Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for a 13-week contract assignment in a corrections healthcare setting. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, providing quality patient care, and floating within their scope of practice as needed.Key ResponsibilitiesAdminister medications via oral, subcutaneous, NG/G-tube, and eye/ear drop routesProvide oxygen therapy using nasal cannula and face maskPerform wound care and dressing changesInsert and manage Foley catheters (male and female patients)Conduct blood glucose monitoring and documentationAssist with cardiac monitoring and emergency response situationsFollow isolation and infection control protocolsComplete patient admissions and ongoing assessmentsMonitor and record vital signsAssist patients with ambulation and activities of daily livingMaintain accurate documentation using Cerner electronic medical records systemMinimum QualificationsGraduate of an accredited Practical Nursing programActive Illinois LPN license (or ability to obtain prior to start date)Current BLS certificationCompletion of pharmacology and medication administration coursework in accordance with state regulationsMinimum of two (2) years of clinical nursing experienceRequired SkillsMedication administrationOxygen administrationWound care managementFoley catheter insertion and careBlood glucose monitoringElectronic medical record documentation (Cerner preferred)Additional RequirementsEvery other weekend requiredMaximum of five (5) requested time-off days during the assignmentNo holidays, weekends, or days surrounding holidays may be requested offCOVID-19 vaccination requiredInfluenza (flu) vaccination required
