Developing and operating across North America, EMEA and Asia Pacific, Vantage has evolved data center design in innovative ways to deliver dramatic gains in reliability, efficiency and sustainability in flexible environments that can scale as quickly as the market demands.**Automation Systems Group**The Automation Systems Group is responsible for the design, construction and support of cutting-edge data center automation and control infrastructure. The department collaborates with Operations, Sales, Engineering, Information Technology and Management to ensure the system continues to fulfill Vantage customer requirements. Automation Systems works closely with partner contractors to come up with the best design and helps manage these partners to success by providing accurate requirements, goals, and timelines. In addition to design and construction, we are also responsible for the technical requirements of the Operations department involving troubleshooting, calibrating, and repairing mission critical control systems throughout all Vantage locations.**Position Overview****This role can be based in Phoenix, AZ; Denver, CO; New Albany, OH; Ashburn, VA; Atlanta, GA; San Antonio, TX or Abilene TX, following Vantage's hybrid work policy (3 days in the office; 2 days flexible).**Vantage is looking for a motivated, detail-oriented, hands-on Senior Automation Telemetry Engineer to support telemetry systems development, customer usage tracking, operational data delivery, and internal data needs across Vantage facilities.This role supports the collection, validation, configuration, and maintenance of telemetry data used by internal teams and external customers. You will review power distribution diagrams, metering specifications, network architecture documents, points lists, configuration sheets, and project documentation to implement and maintain telemetry collection systems for both new and existing facilities.You will also troubleshoot existing telemetry collection and usage tracking systems in live, mission-critical environments and assist with validation, testing, comissioning, and ongoing support of data center metering infrastructure.This role requires strong ownership, proactive communication, consistent follow-through, and the ability to manage multiple customer-facing and operational deliverables through completion.**Essential Job Functions*** Implement and maintain telemetry collection, usage tracking, and operational data applications.* Configure and maintain telemetry systems, points lists, configuration sheets, and associated documentation.* Support customer telemetry, usage reporting, data validation, and operational reporting requirements.* Review, validate, and maintain telemetry data flows to ensure accuracy and availability.* Assist in testing, commissioning, and support of telemetry infrastructure.* Own assigned deliverables from initiation through completion.* Proactively communicate risks, blockers, schedule impacts, and changes in priority.* Drive incidents, customer requests, and project tasks through closure.* Maintain documentation and supporting artifacts within approved repositories.* Support continuous improvement of telemetry standards, data quality, and operational processes.* Additional duties as assigned by Management.**Duties*** Collaborate with Design, Engineering, Finance, Construction, Information Technology, and Site Operations teams.* Review project documents including metering specifications, points lists, network architecture diagrams, and configuration sheets.* Maintain Telemetry System Architecture Documents and supporting technical records.* Prioritize competing operational, support, and project activities in alignment with business and customer priorities.* Monitor deliverables to ensure milestones and due dates are achieved, escalating risks when necessary.* Maintain visibility of active work through clear documentation, status updates, and communication.* Support knowledge sharing, documentation quality, and continuity of support across the team.* Provide technical guidance to junior team members and project stakeholders.**Job Requirements*** 2-3 years of experience in Automation Systems, Telemetry, Data Analytics, OT systems, or related fields required; 5-7 years preferred.* Data Center experience is strongly preferred, but not required.* Understanding of telemetry systems, metering infrastructure, usage tracking methodologies, operational data flows, and data validation practices.* Experience maintaining points lists, configuration sheets, tag mappings, telemetry records, or similar technical documentation.* Knowledge of Ignition by Inductive Automation is required.* Strong knowledge of SQL, Python, and modern telemetry or data integration platforms is required.* Strong knowledge of MQTT is preferred.* Travel is expected to be 10% but may increase over time as business needs evolve.* Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deliverables in a fast-paced environment while consistently meeting commitments and deadlines.* Strong organizational and planning skills with the ability to track work, identify risks early, and proactively communicate status and impacts.* Proven ability to work independently with a high degree of ownership, accountability, and follow-through.* Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical information, priorities, risks, and blockers effectively.* Experience managing customer-facing deliverables and balancing competing operational and project priorities.* Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing business needs, shifting priorities, and evolving customer requirements while maintaining focus on execution and delivery.* Strong documentation discipline and experience maintaining technical records, project artifacts, and operational procedures in shared repositories.**Success Factors*** Strong ownership of assigned work and deliverables.* Consistent follow-through from assignment through completion.* Ability to prioritize work and manage competing demands.* Proactive communication of risks, blockers, and status updates.* Commitment to meeting agreed-upon deadlines and customer expectations.* High-quality documentation and knowledge-sharing practices.* Adaptability in a fast-paced, evolving environment.* Ability to work collaboratively while maintaining accountability for individual responsibilities.* Strong awareness of how telemetry quality impacts customer confidence, internal reporting, operational reliability, and data-driven decision-making.**Physical Demands and Special Requirements**The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
