Rate of Pay: $20-$23/hour

Under the general supervision of the Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) Program Director, the SSVF Intake Coordinator will provide all services and support as set forth in the program description. The SSVF Intake Coordinator will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive support and assistance to veterans and their families who are experiencing homelessness or are at risk of homelessness. This position involves streamlining the initial enrollment process for veterans, ensuring a complete intake to support the SSVF team and improve service delivery.

What You Will Be Doing:

The Intake Coordinator’s responsibilities would include:

• Receiving and filtering all calls that come in to SSVF.
• Determining eligibility for services.
• Completing all intakes.

For Homeless Prevention (HP) veterans , the Intake Coordinator would:

• Complete the Homeless Prevention Screener and determine eligibility.
• Complete the Homeless Prevention intake if eligible.
• Work with landlords to obtain required documentation (lease copies, W9 forms).
• Enter veteran information into our computer systems.
• Submit initial payments to maintain housing.
• Transition the case to an SSVF case manager for ongoing services.

For Rapid Rehousing (RRH) veterans , the Intake Coordinator would:

• Determine eligibility, schedule, and complete intake.
• If the household requires Emergency Housing Assistance upon intake, arrange hotel placement and provide basic needs, or assist with shelter placement if appropriate.
• Enter veteran information into our computer systems.
• Transition the case to an SSVF case manager for continued support.

Other duties:

• Managing short-lived cases for one-time assistance veterans, such as VASH veterans receiving only financial assistance.
• Assisting with data systems to ensure HMIS entries are accurate, compliant, and of high quality.
• Supporting monthly outreach events in the community.
• Ensuring files are compliant and assisting with exited files to make sure they are complete before the SSVF Director signs off on official exits.
• Possess strong interpersonal abilities, including effective communication and de-escalation skills.
• Collaborate with community organizations, government agencies, and veteran service organizations to enhance resources for clients as needed.
• Demonstrate organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date client intake files, ensuring compliance with program guidelines and grant reporting requirements.
• Enter program demographic and service data into the agency's electronic database system and federal homeless database system (HMIS).

Your Superpowers:

• Preference will be given to candidates with a minimum of two years of professional experience in human services, demonstrating effective support and success in working with low-income, socioeconomically vulnerable individuals, including military veterans.
• Knowledge of housing resources, government assistance programs, and community support services is required.
• Demonstrates competency in use of personal computer via mouse and keyboard, familiarity with Windows and Microsoft products.  

What You Need to Bring to the Table:

• Bachelor’s degree in human services.  Preference to applicants possessing degree in social work, public health, sociology or psychology OR Minimum 2 years of previous experience in case management, preferably in the field of homelessness. 
• Class C driver’s license, personal motor vehicle, and personal motor vehicle insurance required. 
• Preference will be given to candidates with a minimum of two years of professional experience in human services, demonstrating effective support and success in working with low-income, socioeconomically vulnerable individuals, including military veterans.
• Knowledge of housing resources, government assistance programs, and community support services is required.

The Rhythm of the Role:

• Work Type: Light, exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. 
• Climbing/Balancing/Freedom to Move: May be assigned to multilevel building with some floors accessible by stairs only. Minimal required to move about office. Sit about 50 percent of time. 
• Stooping/Bending: Minimal. 
• Reaching:  Occasional, overhead as well as horizontal and down. 
• Vision: Adequate to perform essential functions.
• Color vision: No particular color vision requirement. 
• Sitting:   Up to two hours without a break (at desk, in a car). 
• Hearing: Frequently perceive nature of sounds by ear.  
• Speech: Frequently express ideas by means of spoken words. 
• Eye/Hand/Foot Coordination: Frequently operates equipment requiring moderate ability.
• Manual Dexterity: Frequently operates equipment requiring moderate ability.
