Artist Services Coordinator

Texas Performing Arts at the University of Texas at Austin (TPA) is the nation's largest and most active university-based performing arts center by annual attendance, budget, and number of events. Both an anchor institution in Austin's arts landscape and a nationally significant presenter, TPA operates venues on the University of Texas at Austin campus including Austin's largest theater, Bass Concert Hall. Its presenting includes Broadway in Austin; an international season of dance, theater, and music; and the Texas Welcomes series of national touring artists. Education is at the core of TPA's programs, which serve more than 30,000 K-12 students and the 55,000 students of UT Austin.

Texas Performing Arts (TPA) is seeking experienced, hospitality-driven professionals to serve as Artist Services Managers on an over-hire / as-needed basis. This role is the frontline of artist and company supportserving as the boots-on-the-ground facilitators for performances, events, and activations both onsite at Bass Concert Hall and at offsite locations. Artist Services Managers play a critical role in ensuring seamless event execution by maintaining logistics, supporting artist hospitality, and acting as an extension of the Event Management team. This position is designed to expand operational capacity, allowing Event Managers to focus on high-level client experience, while Artist Services Managers execute and oversee real-time needs on the ground.

Responsibilities:

• Serve as on-site lead support for event setup, execution, and strike
• Open and close events in alignment with TPA standards and protocols
• Act as the primary "boots on the ground" contact during assigned shifts
• Execute event logistics including deliveries, room setups, and transitions
• Support all backstage hospitality needs including dressing rooms, green rooms, and catering coordination
• Ensure spaces are clean, stocked, and aligned with artist expectations and riders
• Serve as a professional and welcoming presence for touring artists, crews, and VIPs
• Coordinate and complete runs for supplies, meals, and last-minute requests
• Troubleshoot real-time needs with efficiency and discretion
• Maintain clear communication with Event Managers and cross-functional teams (Production, Security, Guest Experience, etc.)
• Act as an extension of the Events team to increase bandwidth during high-volume periods
• Execute delegated tasks independently with minimal oversight
• Support overall flow of event operations so Event Managers can prioritize client experience and quality

Required Qualifications:

• 2+ years experience in live events, hospitality, venue operations, or related field
• Strong understanding of backstage operations and/or artist hospitality preferred
• Ability to work independently in fast-paced, high-pressure environments
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
• Professional, calm, and solutions-oriented demeanor
• Must be 21 years or older
• Flexible availability including nights, weekends, and holidays
• Valid Driver's License
• Reliable transportation (offsite support may be required)

Hourly Rate:

• $25.00/hour (overtime and extended shift rates applied as applicable)

Working Conditions:

• This position is based in Austin, Texas and requires residence in the greater Austin area
• Work in and around theatrical performance environment
• Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation
• Walking to multiple buildings on campus
• Use of manual dexterity
• Climbing stairs and ladders
• Ability to stand/walk for extended periods and lift up to 30 lbs
