Automation Engineer - Platform Integration

Salary: $90,000 - 130,000 per year Requirements:

• Must reside in the Eastern Time Zone.
• Hold a bachelors degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field, or have equivalent professional experience of at least five years.
• Have 3–5+ years of dedicated test automation experience for production web applications; systems integration or complex data migration experience is preferred.
• Demonstrate expertise with Playwright or a modern end-to-end web testing framework such as Cypress or Selenium.
• Have experience testing REST APIs and middleware, working with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or SQL Server, and writing advanced SQL queries for reconciliation and integrity checks.
• Have a proven record of integrating automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub Actions, Bitbucket Pipelines, Azure DevOps, or Jenkins.
• Be proficient in JavaScript or TypeScript; familiarity with Python, C#, or Java is also acceptable.
• Understand risk-based test prioritization, stable selectors, deterministic test design, Git, and defect triage.
• Communicate clearly in writing and verbally, and be able to document runbooks and report coverage and residual risks to stakeholders across geographies.
• Preferred, but not required: experience in electronic monitoring, GPS or location tracking, telematics, IoT, or public-safety or criminal-justice software; knowledge of AWS, Oracle Cloud, or Google Cloud Platform; experience testing web applications and service tiers; exposure to performance or load testing tools such as k6 or JMeter; experience introducing automation in manual testing environments and coaching QA staff; and comfort working with a distributed international team on a tightly scheduled integration program.

• Build and maintain an automated regression suite for the target platforms web front end, middleware, and APIs.
• Automate validation of features developed to onboard acquired customers, using the development teams designs and acceptance criteria.
• Create tools to verify data migrations, including record counts, field mappings, and referential integrity between legacy applications and the target platform.
• Automate end-to-end device and event scenarios, including enrollment, location and event ingestion, alerting, and reporting, so migration rehearsals can be repeated on demand.
• Establish a build pipeline for automated suites, running them with each build and migration rehearsal and reporting results clearly to program leadership.
• Automate test-data creation and environment setup and teardown to ensure repeatable, isolated test runs.
• Triage test failures, distinguish product defects from test defects, and file and track issues with engineering and QA teams.
• Partner with QA to define what should be automated and what should remain manual, prioritizing coverage according to risk.
• Document the test suites and transfer the framework, runbooks, and coverage map to the permanent QA team at the end of the engagement.

More:

We are seeking an Automation Engineer for a remote, fixed-term contract of approximately 10 months on our integration team. The role supports the transition of a recently acquired electronic-monitoring product line to our strategic web-based platform. The migration introduces substantial new functionality to a platform currently validated largely by hand; this position will help make the cutover process repeatable and lower risk.
