The Opportunity

Fit2Run is looking for a Certified Pedorthist who believes the right footwear can do far more than complete an outfit—it can improve comfort, protect mobility, support performance, and help someone meet their goals.

This is a high-impact role at the intersection of foot health, biomechanics, specialty retail, community, and human connection.

You will assess foot and lower extremity needs, evaluate gait and movement, recommend and fit appropriate footwear and pedorthic devices, and educate guests with clarity and care. You will also help Fit2Run deepen relationships with healthcare providers, athletes, active adults, and community partners while raising the standard of expertise across our stores.

What You Will Do

Assess and understand. Conduct thorough evaluations of foot structure, gait, biomechanics, footwear history, activity demands, areas of discomfort, and relevant health considerations within the certified pedorthist scope of practice.

Recommend with purpose. Translate findings into individualized footwear, over-the-counter device, customer orthosis, accommodation, or modification recommendations that balance function, comfort, activity, and lifestyle.

Fit, adjust, and refine. Take accurate measurements and impressions; fit and adjust footwear and pedorthic devices; troubleshoot pressure, alignment, comfort, and performance concerns; and complete follow-up evaluations when appropriate.

Protect the guest experience. Recognize red flags, contraindications, skin-integrity concerns, and needs outside the role’s scope; pause or refer appropriately rather than forcing a retail solution.

Educate and empower. Explain assessments and recommendations in practical, accessible language. Teach guests how to use, break in, care for, and monitor footwear and devices—and when to seek additional medical care.

Collaborate across care. Build effective working relationships with podiatrists, physicians, physical therapists, athletic trainers, orthotists, and other healthcare professionals, consistent with applicable authorization and privacy requirements.

Strengthen Fit2Run expertise. Coach store teams on footwear fundamentals, fit, gait, orthotics, referral boundaries, and guest communication. Contribute to consistent service standards and ongoing team education.

Grow community impact. Represent Fit2Run at clinics, educational events, races, health fairs, provider meetings, and community programs. Help build an ethical referral network and expand awareness of Fit2Run’s pedorthic capabilities.

Support a healthy business. Track service activity, follow-up outcomes, guest satisfaction, referral relationships, and product or service trends. Recommend improvements while ensuring every recommendation remains guest-centered and clinically appropriate.

Stay current and compliant. Maintain required credentials and continuing education and follow all applicable laws, professional standards, manufacturer requirements, company policies, privacy practices, and infection-control procedures.

Guests feel listened to, respected, and confident in the recommendations they receive.

Assessments, fittings, modifications, follow-ups, referrals, and documentation are accurate, timely, and consistent.

Fit and function concerns are resolved thoughtfully, with strong professional judgment and appropriate escalation.

Store teams become more capable at identifying needs, explaining products, and knowing when to involve or refer to the Certified Pedorthist.

Healthcare and community partners view Fit2Run as a trusted, responsive, and ethical resource.

The program grows through credibility, repeat relationships, and measurable guest impact—not transactional selling alone.

What You Bring

Current Certified Pedorthist (CPed) credential through the American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics & Pedorthics (ABC) or the Board of Certification/Accreditation (BOC), maintained in good standing.

State licensure or other professional authorization where required for the location and services performed.

Working knowledge of foot and lower-extremity anatomy, common pathologies, gait and biomechanical assessment, footwear construction, orthotic principles, materials, fitting, and modification techniques.

Demonstrated experience conducting assessments and fitting therapeutic, comfort, occupational, or athletic footwear and pedorthic devices. Experience in sports medicine, podiatry, orthotics and prosthetics, physical therapy, diabetes care, or specialty footwear is strongly valued.

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to make technical information understandable without overstating, diagnosing beyond scope, or making unsupported claims.

Excellent judgment, attention to detail, documentation habits, problem-solving ability, and commitment to confidentiality.

Comfort working in an active specialty-retail environment and collaborating with both clinical and retail professionals.

Ability to use standard business technology and learn Fit2Run systems, assessment tools, and product platforms.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

This position works primarily in a specialty retail and service environment and may also support community or partner events. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Regularly communicate with guests and team members; observe feet, footwear, posture, and gait; and use assessment and point-of-sale technology.

Frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and use hands for measuring, fitting, adjusting, and working with tools or materials.

Ability to move or lift equipment, footwear, supplies, and materials weighing up to 25 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Ability to maintain visual attention and manual precision during assessments, fittings, and modifications.

Ability to work a schedule aligned with business and guest needs, which may include evenings, weekends, travel, and community events.
