Generator Technician I

We are a full-service distributor of Generac equipment and solutions providing sales, service and rentals.The Generator Technician I is responsible for providing on-site repair, equipment preventive maintenance, and ability to assist with installation. This position will require up to 50% travel.Major ResponsibilitiesPerform technical skills including but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, troubleshooting and repair of generators.Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of generators both during normal working hours and after-hours, weekends and holidays as directed.Perform scheduled preventative maintenance service and/or repairs of generators.Read and interpret operational manuals, electrical schematics, universal generator literature, and work orders to perform required maintenance and/or repairs.Detect faulty operations, defective material and report them and any other unusual situations to the service manager in a timely mannerStay current on National Fire Protection Association and State regulations for Emergency Power Supply Systems.Create reports for all work performed in FieldServio.Communicate report findings through but not limited to phone calls, emails and in person communication.Minimum Job RequirementsEducationHigh School DiplomaCertification / LicenseValid Driver LicenseWork Experience1 year of mechanical experienceKnowledge / Skills / AbilitiesWorking knowledge of mechanical design, AC and DC circuitry, power generation, wiring schematics, and connection diagramsWorking knowledge of Engine maintenance and troubleshooting of natural gas fuel systems.Knowledge of power generation; light tower, pumps, and heating productsWorking knowledge of diesel or gaseous enginesModerate troubleshooting skills, the ability to make independent decisions, and work with minimal supervision.Working knowledge of transfer switch operationsAbility to obtain and maintain Generac certification in the air-cooled and protector series coursesAbility to work and communicate well with othersAbility to provide detailed reports within 24 hoursAbility to manage and respond to emails, texts, and phone calls in a safe and timely mannerPreferred Job RequirementsEducationAssociate degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical EngineeringCertification / LicenseN/AWork Experience2 – 3 years of industrial experienceKnowledge / Skills / AbilitiesN/APhysical Requirements and Working ConditionsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee must be able to work in varying weather conditions including extreme heat, snow, and ice.
