Wood is seeking an Intermediate Mechanical Engineer to join our Life Sciences business. This opportunity is Remote.#LI-RemoteThe RoleWood is currently seeking an Intermediate Mechanical Engineer candidate with design and analysis experience in industrial HVAC, Utilities and Plumbing system design to support the Life Science business. Primary focus for project work will be to prepare construction drawings, develop specifications and assessing existing equipment for HVAC, plumbing, and energy systems for new and/or retrofit life science manufacturing plants and laboratories. This position primarily provides HVAC design leadership on detail design. design leadership on detail design. Knowledge of fire protection and plumbing is a plus. In this position, the intermediate Mechanical Engineer provides mechanical engineering expertise from conceptual studies, feasibility analysis, construction grade scope and estimates, detailed design, start-up, system optimization, and trouble-shooting.Our Clients and Projects Designing the future. Expected:BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited school5-10 years of facility HVAC design experienceAble to generate own drawing packages with AutoCAD and RevitKnowledgeable with Codes and industry standards (ex. NFPA, International Codes, Factory Mutual Datasheets, ASHRAE, etc.)Able to write design analyses, specifications, estimate project costs, and estimate construction schedule durationAble to travel by air & ground, climbing laddersMust pass drug screen, background check, and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company’s driving (MVR) policyDesirable:PE License is not required but desiredExperience with REVIT and NavisworksExperience with Elite CHVAC, AFT Fathom, Trane TRACE (or Carrier HAP for energy modeling)Experience in Fire Protection and Plumbing is a plusPE License desirableTypical responsibilities:Provide technical design packages within defined schedule and budget requirementsExecutes facility mechanical engineering HVAC designs according to IAW applicable codes and standardsAbility to meet with clients, present for HVAC on progress of work, design options and 3D model reviewsPerforms facility system assessment field workGenerates workload plans, design analyses, drawing plans, specifications, HVAC load/ventilation calculations, pump calculationsSupports proposals generation (FEL1 thru 3, Detailed Design)Significant CAD work with AutoCAD and RevitReviews work of and provides guidance to junior engineersReview equipment and material submittals for adequacy and compliance with contractual documentsPerforms site visits when required and assists with construction RFI’s after document issuance for constructionApplicants must be authorized to work lawfully in the US without sponsorship from Wood, now or in the future.Full timePosting Date: 2026-04-14
