Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse / Pediatric Intensive Care Unit – Maryland

Schedule: 3x12 hour shifts (4x12 schedules may be considered for contracts longer than 14 weeks). 1:2 patient ratio. Weekend requirement consists of 5 weekend shifts within each 6-week schedule (may be Saturday or Sunday).

Highlights:

• 6-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit serving infants, children, and adolescents
• Common patient diagnoses include respiratory distress/failure, DKA, seizures, pain management, and sepsis
• Manage moderate sedation, continuous drips, arterial lines, central lines, and ICP monitoring
• Cerner EMR system required
• Floating required to NICU and Pediatrics based on hospital needs
• Approximately 40 hours of orientation including virtual, clinical, and on-unit training
• First-time travelers welcome; local candidates accepted

Requirements:

• Active Maryland or Compact RN license required at time of submission
• Minimum 2 years of PICU experience required
• Current BLS/BCLS, PALS, and Basic EKG certifications required
• Strong dysrhythmia interpretation and management experience required
• Central line and PICC line management experience required
• Experience with anti-seizure medications, continuous sedation, IV vasopressors, and pediatric dosage calculations required
• ICP monitoring experience required
• Must be comfortable caring for ventilated pediatric patients and managing acute airways
• BiPAP/CPAP, ABG interpretation, and chest tube management experience required
• Experience with ventilators, high-flow nasal cannula, and BiPAP/CPAP equipment
• Cerner charting system experience required
• Flu vaccination required (medical exemptions only)

• Virtual modules completed on first day (8 hours for new starts; 115 minutes annually for ICU RN)
• Maximum assignment duration of 365 days; six-month separation period required before returning
