Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN with Impella and CRRT experience for a travel contract in the Greater New Orleans area, requiring Epic proficiency and an active LA or Compact RN license.

Details

ICU setting within a hospital environment
Patient ratio is typically 1:2, with occasional flex to 1:3
4x12-hour day shifts (7:00–19:30)
4 weekend shifts required per 4-week scheduling period
No on-call requirements
Floating required to all ICUs; may also float to ED or PACU to care for ICU-level patients, or occasionally to MS/PCU units at a 1:4 ratio
Epic EMR required
Nurses are responsible for all lab draws, EKGs, and line starts
Equipment used includes: Alaris IV Pumps, CADD PCA Pumps, Servo I Ventilators, Fresenius CRRT Dialysis Machines, Edwards Lifesciences Cardiac Monitors, Medtronic EVD Management Systems, Arctic Sun TMS, GE Monitors, Hill-Rom Beds, Pyxis Medication Stations, and Veratron Bladder Scanners

Requirements

Active LA RN license or Compact RN license currently in hand (pending not accepted)
Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
CPI certification required (can be obtained at the facility for $100)
Minimum 2 years of ICU nursing experience required
Impella experience required
CRRT/CVVHD experience required
Epic EMR experience required
Proficiency with ventilator management, arterial line management, central/PICC line care, vasoactive and cardiac drip titration, and blood product administration
At least two recent manager references required
Copy of Driver's License required for consideration
Any license history disclosures must be accompanied by a personal statement

Additional Information

Complex ICU patient population including neurological, cardiac, renal, and multisystem organ failure cases; preferred experience includes ECMO, post-cardiac surgery, EVD management, and hypothermia/Arctic Sun protocol
Candidates must be able to care for isolation patients, including COVID-19; knowledge of your N95 mask size is required
Teaching hospital and community hospital experience are preferred
Pre-start modules are required and vary by specialty (typically 5–8 hours for RNs); modules are non-billable
RTO is limited to 5 days total for the duration of the contract
Local candidates (residing within 75 miles of the facility) are accepted at a local pay rate
Former permanent employees of the health system must have been separated for at least 1 year to be eligible
First-time travelers are welcome to apply
