Join a traveling concrete construction crew that builds high-quality foundations, walls, flatwork, footings, and equipment pads for industrial and agricultural processing facilities throughout the Midwest. In this role, you construct and finish concrete, interpret construction drawings, and support follow-on industrial construction activities, all while upholding strong safety standards and contributing to a collaborative, project-based team.

Responsibilities

• Construct concrete foundations for industrial and agricultural processing facilities.

• Form and pour equipment pads to precise specifications.

• Install anchor bolts accurately according to layout and drawings.

• Layout and build concrete footings using proper site layout and grade checking techniques.

• Construct concrete walls and flatwork, including slabs and other horizontal surfaces.

• Read and interpret construction drawings and blueprints to guide field work.

• Assist with reinforcing steel (rebar) installation to meet structural requirements.

• Perform concrete finishing tasks, including troweling and surface finishing for flatwork.

• Support millwright crews once concrete work is complete, ensuring smooth project transitions.

• Assist with structural steel erection as part of broader industrial construction activities.

• Assist with equipment installation and assembly, including machinery and related systems.

• Support installation of grain handling systems, conveyors, and dust collection systems.

• Follow company safety standards and procedures at all times on every job site.

• Work effectively as part of a traveling crew, adapting to different project sites and conditions.

• Maintain a clean and organized work area and handle tools and equipment safely.

Essential Skills

• Solid knowledge of concrete construction practices, including foundations, footings, walls, and flatwork.

• Hands-on experience with concrete forming, pouring, and finishing.

• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and blueprints.

• Experience with formwork, including setup, alignment, and stripping.

• Knowledge of reinforcing steel (rebar) installation and placement.

• Experience with site layout and grade checking for concrete work.

• Skill in installing anchor bolts accurately and securely.

• Capability to perform physical labor in an outdoor construction environment and varying weather conditions.

• Willingness and ability to travel extensively as part of a rotating project crew.

• Commitment to following safety standards and procedures on industrial and agricultural construction sites.

• Ability to work cooperatively in team-oriented crews of approximately 610 employees.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• OSHA 10 certification (preferred).

• Commercial concrete experience, particularly on industrial or agricultural projects (preferred).

• Welding experience (preferred).

• Experience working around heavy equipment and machinery.

• Familiarity with grain, seed, milling, and agricultural processing facilities is a plus.

• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow technical instructions.

• Reliable attendance and ability to maintain a predictable travel schedule.

Work Environment

This role is 100% travel throughout the Midwest, working on industrial and agricultural construction sites, including grain, seed, milling, and food processing facilities. You work primarily outdoors in an active construction environment around heavy equipment and machinery, performing physical labor in varying weather conditions. Crews typically consist of 610 team members and operate on a predictable schedule of 10 days on and 4 days off, with a Tuesday through Thursday rotation. Work is year-round, providing consistent hours and exposure to a variety of project sites and industrial technologies.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Urbandale, IA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $38.75/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
