Amentum is immediately hiring qualified Aviation Electronics Technicians in support of U.S. Navy Aviation maintenance operations at NAS Oceana, Virginia Beach, VA. VFA-106. The Aircraft Worker makes repairs to aircraft following orders of higher grade technicians. Responsibilities include troubleshooting malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, anti‑icing, pneumatic, engines, auxiliary power units, and ventilation and heating systems. The worker repairs, replaces, and rebuilds aircraft structures such as wings and fuselage, and functional components including rigging, surface controls, plumbing, and hydraulic units using hand tools, power tools, and equipment such as shears, sheet metal brakes, welding equipment, rivet guns, and drills. Read and interpret manufacturers’ and airline’s maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components. Perform progressive, phase, periodic, and other hourly, conditional, or calendar inspections. Examine reciprocating engines for cracked cylinders and oil leaks, listen to engine operation to detect and diagnose malfunctions, and inspect jet engines and components for cracks, corrosion, foreign object damage, and other defects. Test engine operation with equipment such as ignition analyzers, compression checkers, distributor timers, ammeters, and jet calibration testers. Replace or repair worn or damaged components such as carburetors, alternators, magnetos, fuel controls, fuel pumps, oil pumps, engine‑mounted gearboxes, and compressor bleed valves. Remove engines from aircraft, using hoists or forklift trucks, to disassemble, inspect, repair or replace defective parts, and reassemble and install the engine. Adjust, repair, or replace electrical wiring systems and aircraft accessories. Perform preflight, through‑flight, and post‑flight maintenance inspections and miscellaneous duties such as flushing crankcase, cleaning screens and filters, greasing moving parts, and checking brakes. Work includes supervision of aircraft jacking and towing, entering maintenance records, and verifying satisfactory completion of work. May service engines and airframe components in a line station, perform short‑overhauls, and specialize in structural, precision, functional spare parts, assemblies, or engine repair. May be required to be licensed by the Federal Aviation Administration. Minimum Requirements Shift work and detachments are required. Must have completed Navy Aviation Electronics Technician AT “A” School. Knowledge and use of special tools/equipment are mandatory. Must be physically able to perform all assigned duties. Work is performed primarily outdoors under all types of weather conditions with exposure to loud noise and exhaust fumes. Ability to read and interpret technical publications, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Self‑motivated with minimum supervision. Able to meet physical requirements and pass any medical examinations. Must be able to obtain an approved status from the Contractor Verification system, including a 7‑year background check. Must obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization (U.S. citizenship required). Must obtain a T3 Secret Eligible Status. Preferred Qualifications 3 years F/A‑18 A‑G O‑level aircraft system maintenance experience. Ramp Stamp (restricted/unrestricted). A/S32A‑45 tow tractor. AM32A‑108 or A/M24M‑6 power cart. Release and Control TM/TL.
