Job Description

The Registered Nurse in the Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) provides expert nursing care while demonstrating an understanding of the complex needs of patients undergoing open-heart surgery. This role requires proficient EPIC charting and a strong background in managing both routine and complex care needs.

Responsibilities

• Utilize the nursing process for assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
• Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and their families.
• Administer medications and treatments according to protocols, monitoring for side effects and effectiveness.
• Document patient history, symptoms, medication, and care provided accurately and comprehensively.
• Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, families, and caregivers, identifying issues and resources.
• Make appropriate assignments and delegate tasks as necessary to manage clinical situations effectively.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.
• Minimum of two years of CVOR and EPIC charting experience required.
• 1 year of experience in the related nursing specialty preferred.
• BLS certification required (AHA only).
• Current RN License in the state of Texas or compact.
