Leveraging innovative solutions and technologies, we serve customers all over the world.ABOUT THE POSITIONUnder limited supervision, the Electrical Technician must be capable of performing all tasks in Astec manufacturing electrical department with little to no supervision. Must be able to assemble, evaluate, troubleshoot, and correct deficiencies to make certain product specifications are met. Ensure that work is in accordance with relevant codes. This level of electrician will deal with live energized equipment and be trained and capable of performing all required tests and if necessary de-energize equipment to meet safe standards before proceeding.Key DeliverablesAssemble, evaluate, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, and apparatus.Troubleshoot and repair malfunctioning equipment.Construct and fabricate parts, using hand tools and specifications.Read and interpret electrical and electrical circuit blueprints and diagrams.Perform preventative maintenance on a regular schedule.Key Activities & ResponsibilitiesDemonstrate Astec processes in all aspects of the manufacturing electrical department including panel room, construction manufacturing and industrial manufacturing as warranted by workload demands and scheduling needs.Test and troubleshoot heaters to ensure equipment is ready before shipping to customer siteCorrect and re-test to verify corrective action was successfulCommunicate with electrical engineering recommendations to correct or improve processesMonitor quality issues that warrant concern and encourage postponement of equipment from being shippedAchieve quality results as it relates to the Company’s vision and missionPromote and educate others on Astec’s core valuesFollow company policies, procedures, and safety rules at all timesTo be successful in this role, your experience and competencies are:High School Diploma or equivalent and/or accreditation from a technical school or an applicable skilled trades program required.4-7 years working in manufacturing in order to understand equipment and process proceduresMust be detail oriented, good workmanship while taking and following direction with little to no supervision.Demonstrated track record of working cross-functionally and as a team necessary.Strong problem-solving skills desired.Recognition that at every level growing experience in troubleshooting is essential to evaluate and correct concerns before testing.Supervisor and Leadership ExpectationsNoneOur Culture and ValuesEmployees that become part of Astec embody the values below throughout their work.Continuous devotion to meeting the needs of our customersHonesty and integrity in all aspects of businessRespect for all individualsPreserving entrepreneurial spirit and innovationSafety, quality and productivity as means to ensure successWORK ENVIRONMENTManufacturing EnvironmentShop manufacturing environment exposures include exposure to moving mechanical parts, machinery, tools and equipment, vibration, fumes or airborne particles, motorized vehicles, welding and machining operations, outside weather conditions and exposure to the risk of electric shock. The employee may occasionally be exposed to varying levels of dirt, dust, toxic or caustic chemicals, very warm and/or very chilly temperatures. The noise level in the shop can be very loud at times consistent with an industrial assembly facility and may require hearing protection.
