Job DescriptionJob DescriptionMaterials & Sewing Specialist, Part-Time ConsultantCanton, Massachusetts | 8–16 Hours Per Week | Approximately $50/HourThe Judge Rotenberg Educational Center (JRC) is seeking a skilled Materials & Sewing Specialist to work with our Electronics Department on a part-time consulting basis.This is a unique opportunity for an experienced seamstress, tailor, sewing professional, or materials specialist who enjoys using their skills to create customized products and develop practical solutions for specialized needs.What You’ll DoThe consultant will work approximately 8–16 hours per week and will assist with:Design and construct specialized materials and equipment based on individual patient needs and specificationsSew, alter, repair, reinforce, and modify existing protective materials and equipment.Take measurements and make appropriate adjustments to ensure proper fit, function, comfort, and durabilitySelect appropriate fabrics, fasteners, padding, webbing, thread, hardware, and other materials based on the intended useDevelop prototypes and collaborate with clinical and support staff to evaluate and refine designs.Working from existing designs, samples, measurements, and specificationsModifying existing products to improve fit, durability, functionality, or ease of useCollaborating with members of the Electronics Department and other JRC staff on customized projectsPerforming repairs and modifications to existing materials and equipment as needed.What We’re Looking ForWe are open to candidates from a variety of backgrounds.
