1 year of PCU experience or prior ICU experience.
Cerner experience.
Excellent patient care and documentation skills.


Description:
The unit has a total of 12 beds, with 4 additional rooms for ICU.
The average patient census is 8.
Nurse to patient ratios are as follows: 1:3-5 for PCU, 1:3 for ICU, and 1:5 for Med Surg.
There are 2 RNs in the department at all times.
Team nursing involves RN and LPN collaboration to manage a total of 7 patients.
Common diagnoses include pneumonia, Covid, and post-operative care for knees and hips.
Other patient types may include those who have experienced falls.
RNs are required to titrate drips, including Amiodarone and Heparin.
RNs also handle remote telemetry, reading and interpreting strips independently.
Charge nurses typically take on a small patient assignment.
Travelers may be asked to assume a charge role when necessary.
The nurse supervisor provides support across the floor and in the emergency department.
There is one CNA available based on patient census.
All staff members are expected to be flexible in scheduling and may need to cover gaps in permanent staff schedules.
Every third weekend, staff is required to work Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
Holiday availability is expected for 2 out of 3 holidays.
There is an on-call requirement, typically on a rotating basis.
Floating to other areas may be requested, but it is not mandatory.
The dress code allows for any solid color scrubs.
Trained staff will provide unit-specific orientation.
All clinicians must clock in and out during their shifts.
