Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 26 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Evenings Hours per Shift: 12 Hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience required. License: Active state license required. Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC required. Must-Have: Candidates must have required certifications. Description: Unit operates as a Level 1 trauma center. There are 65 private beds and 2 trauma bays. Nurse-patient ratios are 1:3-5, depending on acuity. The unit sees a diverse patient population from newborns to the elderly. Nurses care for everything from minor complaints to critically ill patients. Experience with critical care and trauma patients is preferred. Candidates should be proficient in titrating various drips, including vasopressors and cardiac drips. There are a minimum of 3 attending physicians on duty at all times. Two charge nurses manage department needs while also functioning as second nurses during traumas. The facility is staffed with ED techs, with a ratio of 1 tech for every 9 patients. Respiratory therapists assist with various equipment in the unit. Nurses are expected to interpret and act on heart rhythms. Laboratory draws are performed by both nurses and technicians. Shifts are scheduled as 12 hours each, with no self-scheduling for travelers. Weekend requirements involve every other weekend. Holiday requirements are negotiable based on departmental needs. No call requirements are expected for travel nurses. Travelers may occasionally be floated to support other units, though this is rare. Scrub colors must be tasteful and consist of solid-colored shirts underneath.
