Our District Support Pharmacists (DSPs) play a critical role in cultivating a culture of excellence within each pharmacy by acting as a role model for all, demonstrating genuine care, and setting the bar for the pharmacy team. As a DSP, you will cover pharmacist scheduling gaps throughout the district, under the direction of the Pharmacy Manager (PM) and Rx District Leader (DL). You will support the management, oversight, and operation of the pharmacy and pharmacy team. Your contributions will help improve patient health through safe dispensing, counseling, immunizations, inventory management, and clinical care. Key Responsibilities Live the purpose of CVS Health by managing and improving patient health through safe and appropriate dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices. Travel throughout the district to fill pharmacist shifts as scheduled and serve as the Pharmacy Manager’s proxy during bench shifts. Support safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by directing the pharmacy team to follow pharmacy workflow procedures and safety guardrails at every workstation. Assume the Pharmacy Manager’s day‑to‑day duties when serving as the only or primary pharmacist on duty. Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy, coaching the team to do the same, demonstrating compassionate care, collaborating with the patient’s total health care team, and proactively resolving insurance or medication issues. Proactively offer and deliver immunizations, and support Pharmacy Technicians in learning to immunize. Manage pharmacy inventory by guiding the team to follow best practices, with a focus on protecting cold‑chain products. Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs while fostering a safe, inclusive, and engaging team dynamic. Maintain relevant clinical and technical skills, actively seeking opportunities to expand knowledge and better support patients. Provide pharmacist‑delivered clinical care such as testing and prescribing services (e.g., COVID/Flu, Hormonal Contraception) where permissible. Understand and comply with all relevant federal and state laws, regulations, professional standards, CVHealth policies, and procedures to safeguard patient safety and privacy. Required Qualifications Active Pharmacist License in the state where the store is located. Active National Provider Identifier (NPI). Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list. Essential Functions Essential functions include the ability to travel within a reasonable radius, maintain regular attendance (including nights and weekends), and complete required training within the designated timeframe. Attention and Focus Concentrate on tasks over a period of time. Pivot quickly between tasks to meet patient and business needs. Confirm prescription information and label accuracy to ensure patient safety. Customer Service and Team Orientation Actively look for ways to help people in a friendly manner. Notice and understand patients’ reactions and respond appropriately. Communication Skills Use verbal and written communication to interact with patients and colleagues. Practice active listening: give full attention, ask questions, and avoid inappropriate interruptions. Mathematical Reasoning Use math to solve problems such as determining total tablets, day’s supply, and bottle counts. Problem Resolution Identify challenging patient or colleague interactions and select the best course of action. Physical Demands Be mobile and remain upright for extended periods. Lift, scan, and bag items, reach overhead, and perform repetitive finger work. Occasionally lift up to 20 lbs (or 10 lbs frequently) with adequate precision. Maintain close visual acuity for tasks like transcribing and computer work. Communicate verbally, receive detailed oral information, and convey detailed instructions accurately. Complete any additional tasks as directed by Supervisor or Manager. Preferred Qualifications 1–2 years of related work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting. Anticipated Weekly Hours 29 Time Type Part time Pay Range The typical pay range for this role is $60.00 – $76.00 per hour.
