Why does the job exist?

The Senior Financial Analyst will:

• Analyze financial data, prepare monthly general ledger reconciliations for multiple programs, and ensure the accuracy of the general ledger;
• Prepare monthly trial balances for assigned funds;
• Ensure audit requirements are met and prepare financial statements and audit schedules for the assigned funds;
• Ensure Health Care Authority (HCA) complies with all state and federal rules and regulations while effectively working and communicating with other Bureaus and Divisions within the Agency.

How does it get done?

The Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for:

• Running reports from SHARE;
• Preparing trial balances;
• Reviewing and analyzing financial data;
• Reconciling the general ledger to third party interface systems for HCA programs;
• Preparing and monitoring financial transactions and adjustments within assigned fund;
• Assisting with annual financial audit, audit deliverables, schedules and adjusting journal entries for assigned fund;
• Working with management, staff, auditors and internal/external customers to ensure accuracy of the general ledger.

Ideal Candidate
The Ideal Candidate has:


• Accounting experience, including reconciliation of accounting entries;
• Analytical and critical thinking skills;
• Excellent verbal and writing communication skills;
• Ability to multi-task;
• SHARE experience;
• Experience with Microsoft Excel and Word.



Minimum Qualification
Bachelor's Degree in accounting, economics, finance, or business administration and three (3) years of experience in accounting, finance, economics, and/or statistical analysis. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling seven (7) years may substitute for the required education and experience.


Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.


Must obtain a Defensive driving certification.


Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT), extensive personal computer and phone usage.
