Description: In this position, the Nuclear Medicine Technologist performs Nuclear Medicine procedures to obtain desired imaging results according to physician specifications. This includes transferring patients for examinations and assisting with the Nuclear Medicine examination process. Responsible for appropriate operation of all Nuclear Medicine Imaging and related equipment. Educates, positions, immobilizes, and performs Nuclear Medicine procedures. Coordinates Nuclear Medicine examinations to ensure timeliness, quality, and continuity of patient care. Understands and follows provider Imaging orders accurately. Submits required images and related clinical information to the Radiologist for interpretation. Evaluates image quality appropriately. Maintains open, accurate, and responsive communication with patients, coworkers, Radiologists, and leadership. Utilizes, charges, and maintains department supplies properly. Practices sterile technique and follows infection prevention policies. Handles multiple tasks/projects and meets deadlines effectively. Safely performs Nuclear Medicine procedures including patient transfer. Prepares and administers radioisotopes according to protocol. Follows radiation safety measures to ensure patient and staff safety. Maintains adequate records of radioisotope receipts, use, storage, and disposal in accordance with state and federal guidelines.
