The Role
- Provide emergency assessment, stabilization, and treatment for equine patients in both hospital and field settings.
- Perform comprehensive examinations, diagnostic workups, and appropriate medical and surgical interventions within a referral-hospital framework.
- Participate in an emergency and on-call rotation with specialist backup.
- Contribute to sports medicine case planning, including lameness evaluations and treatment plan development.
- Utilize in-house imaging and endoscopic capabilities; coordinate advanced procedures as indicated.
- Maintain accurate medical records and follow controlled substance protocols.
- Communicate clearly and compassionately with clients and collaborate closely with clinicians, technicians, and support teams.

- Engage in professional development and mentorship activities, including interactions with students or interns as appropriate.

Requirements
- DVM or VMD from an accredited institution
- Active Florida veterinary license, or eligibility to obtain
- DEA registration, or eligibility to obtain
- Authorization to work in the United States
- At least 1 year of clinical experience, with equine emergency experience strongly preferred
- Strong diagnostic and clinical skills; surgical proficiency appropriate to emergency care
- Excellent interpersonal and client communication abilities
- Comfort working in a collaborative, referral-hospital environment
- Ability to meet the physical requirements of equine practice, including handling and lifting up to 50 pounds
