Sr. Staff Software Engineer - Managed Tables

Responsibilities Storage lifecycle and background optimizations via Predictive Optimization to provide a knob‑free experience. Efficient storage structures and innovations to power storage layout solutions for the ML world. Influence data format and catalog interface unification efforts to enable strong ecosystem interoperability for ManagedTables. Impact Solve real business needs at large scale by applying software engineering experience and driving strong collaboration with product partners. Deliver a highly scalable, available, and interoperable architecture for Managed Tables. Perform low‑level systems debugging, performance measurement, and optimization on large production clusters. Build architecture design, influence product roadmap, and take ownership and responsibility over new projects. Introduce tools to allow greater automation and operability of services. Use deep experience to help prevent and investigate production issues. Plan and lead complicated technical projects that work with several teams within the company. Mentor and up‑level engineers on the team. Qualifications 15+ years industry experience building and supporting large‑scale distributed systems. Passion for database systems, storage systems, distributed systems, language design, or performance optimization. Experience working toward a multi‑year vision with incremental deliverables. Motivation by delivering customer value and impact. Strong foundation in algorithms and data structures and their real‑world use cases. Experience driving company initiatives toward customer satisfaction. BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or related majors, or equivalent experience.
