Wellness Coordinator

$49.4k - $55.3k
Full-time

Partners In Development Foundation

Position Title Wellness Coordinator

FLSA Status Exempt, Full-time

Department Kīʻapu

Supervisor Program Manager

Pay Rate $49,400 - $55,300

Primary Purpose Develop and coordinate culturally grounded, healing-centered wellness supports that strengthen the readiness, resilience, and well-being of ʻōpio. Build accessible wellness resources, learning opportunities, partnerships, and referral pathways while collaborating with the Kīʻapu land-preparation team, Navigators, and other youth programs across ʻUpena Pili.

Essential Duties

Wellness Support Development and Coordination

• Develop and coordinate a holistic wellness approach aligned with the ʻUpena Pili North Star, ancestral wayfinding model, grant requirements, and organizational priorities;

• Organize wellness resources and supports that address emotional, mental, physical, relational, and behavioral well-being and other factors that affect the ability of ʻōpio to participate and progress;

• Build and maintain relationships with behavioral health providers, health and wellness organizations, substance-use prevention and recovery resources, family-support agencies, and other community partners;

• Develop clear resource, referral, eligibility, consent, information-sharing, and follow-up processes that help staff connect ʻōpio to appropriate supports;

• Identify program-level gaps and barriers to wellness services and recommend practical strategies to improve access, responsiveness, and continuity of support.

Wellness Learning and Experiences

• Plan and facilitate workshops, seminars, groups, and experiences that build practical wellness knowledge and skills, including self-awareness, stress management, emotional regulation, healthy relationships, help-seeking, self-advocacy, and healthy decision-making;

• Use culturally grounded, trauma-informed, healing-centered, strengths-based, and developmentally appropriate approaches that honor the identity, voice, pace, and lived experiences of ʻōpio;

• Create welcoming learning environments where ʻōpio can participate safely, build connection, practice skills, and reflect on how wellness supports their goals and individualized journeys;

• Coordinate qualified providers, guest facilitators, community resources, schedules, materials, safety considerations, and follow-up for assigned wellness offerings;

• Develop practical wellness resources and tools that Navigators and other staff can appropriately reinforce with ʻōpio.

Land Preparation and Cross-Program Collaboration

• Work closely with Navigators to understand wellness-related needs and connect ʻōpio with relevant resources and opportunities without replacing the Navigator's primary mentoring relationship;

• Support warm handoffs and coordinated follow-up when specialized wellness services are needed while maintaining appropriate role boundaries and confidentiality;

• Collaborate with Kīʻapu staff responsible for pathways, cultural learning, data, and events so offerings are accessible, coordinated, and responsive to the whole person;

• Coordinate with other youth programs under ʻUpena Pili to share wellness resources, strengthen referral networks, reduce duplication, and expand access to appropriate supports;

• Participate in Kīʻapu and cross-program planning, youth conferencing, and coordinated problem-solving when wellness expertise or resource coordination is needed.

Safety, Ethics, and Scope of Practice

• Recognize and respond appropriately to concerns involving safety, abuse, neglect, self-harm, substance use, or other urgent needs by following PIDF policies, mandated-reporting requirements, and established response protocols;

• Maintain professional boundaries and provide only those services that fall within the position's training, qualifications, and scope;

• Protect participant privacy and obtain appropriate consent before sharing information, consistent with law, policy, partner agreements, and the safety of ʻōpio.

Documentation and Continuous Improvement

• Maintain accurate and timely records of wellness offerings, participation, referrals, partner involvement, follow-up, feedback, and other assigned outcomes in PIDF systems;

• Gather feedback from ʻōpio, Navigators, staff, families, providers, and partners to assess accessibility, relevance, safety, cultural responsiveness, and quality;

• Use data, reflection, and partner guidance to improve wellness supports and recommend responsive adjustments;

• Contribute information for reports, dashboards, evaluation, grant compliance, and program planning while safeguarding confidential information.

Other Duties

• Support ʻUpena Pili and Kīʻapu events, trainings, outreach, and community activities;

• Maintain current knowledge of wellness resources, ethical practices, mandated-reporting responsibilities, and relevant professional development;

• Other duties as assigned.

Work Hours

• Generally 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, or as otherwise determined by management;

• Flexibility to adjust schedules for ʻōpio, family, provider, partner, event, evening, or occasional weekend needs is required;

• Position requires regular and predictable attendance.

Working Conditions

• Hybrid work model with work conducted in office, remote, school, community, provider, outdoor, and program settings;

• Frequent travel to participant, partner, event, and program locations on Oʻahu and Molokaʻi;

• Travel to the continental U.S. may be required.

Equipment Use May include use of vehicles (company and personal), computers and other electronics, office equipment, wellness and activity supplies, and facility equipment.

Mental, Physical, and Communication Demands

Mental

• Consistent adherence to Partners In Development Foundation's five core values as a guiding force in the success of all programs;

• Ability to remain calm, youth-centered, compassionate, culturally responsive, and solutions-focused when addressing sensitive or urgent situations;

• Ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain boundaries, recognize the limits of one's role, and seek qualified support when needed;

• Ability to manage multiple partnerships, resources, activities, timelines, and follow-up responsibilities with accuracy and discretion;

• Ability to demonstrate integrity, self-awareness, coachability, adaptability, a growth mindset, and the Navigator's Mindset;

• Take responsibility and ownership for successfully accomplishing work and the organization’s objectives and delivering results. Set high standards of shared performance for self and others;

• Foster a respectful environment while supporting fair treatment and opportunity for all colleagues, partners, and communities;

• Ensure work is thoughtfully completed, accurate, and error-free to the highest degree possible.

Physical

• Ability to frequently travel to schools, provider sites, community locations, events, and program sites on Oʻahu and Molokaʻi;

• Must be able to sit and work on a computer, participate in meetings and activities, or travel in a vehicle during the workday;

• Ability to lift and carry supplies up to 25 lbs;

• Outdoors: exposure to sun, wind, rain, dust, plants, insects, animal dander, and other environmental conditions;

• Indoors: exposure to normal office, school, provider, community, and program environments.

Communication

• Exhibit a courteous and professional demeanor toward ʻōpio, families, staff, administration, providers, and partners through verbal, written, physical, and electronic correspondence;

• Strong facilitation, active-listening, relationship-building, de-escalation, presentation, and written communication skills;

• Ability to discuss sensitive topics respectfully, communicate boundaries and next steps clearly, and handle confidential information appropriately;

• Ability to collaborate across disciplines, cultures, communities, and youth programs.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in social work, psychology, counseling, public health, health education, human services, education, or a related field.

Experience

• Minimum of two (2) years of experience in youth development, behavioral health, wellness education, social services, care coordination, community health, or a related field;

• Experience developing or coordinating wellness resources, workshops, referrals, providers, or community partnerships;

• Experience facilitating groups or learning activities related to wellness, resilience, relationships, or healthy decision-making;

• Experience supporting youth who face barriers related to systems involvement, homelessness, foster care, trauma, behavioral health, substance use, or family instability;

• Knowledge of positive youth development, trauma-informed care, healing-centered practice, crisis-response protocols, professional boundaries, confidentiality, and mandated reporting;

• Strong organizational, facilitation, relationship-building, problem-solving, documentation, and time-management skills;

• Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, email, internet research, participant data systems, and virtual meeting platforms.

Driving

• Must have access to a vehicle, a valid driver's license, a safe and responsible driving record, and current no-fault auto insurance with at least $100,000 in bodily injury liability per person and $25,000 in property damage liability.

Preferred

• Experience working with opportunity or systems-involved youth and families;

• Knowledge of Hawaiʻi's youth-serving, behavioral health, public health, substance-use, family-support, and community-resource systems;

• Knowledge of Native Hawaiian culture, values, practices, and community dynamics;

• Training in Mental Health First Aid, suicide prevention, motivational interviewing, restorative practice, de-escalation, or related approaches;

• Relevant professional license or credential when applicable to the candidate's discipline.
